I'm quite pleased with this. I have both a U4B (== to Tronsmart T428, so RK3188 + AP6330) and this and prefer the U4K.

When opened up the stick comprises of:

1 x Allwinner A31 CPU (clocked @ 1 Ghz)
2 x 32Gbit NAND (Hynix H27UBG8T2BTR-BC) = 8 GByte
8 x 2 Gbit DDR RAM (Hynix H5TQ2GB83CFR) = 2 GByte
1 x Wireless-BGN/BT daughter card (Realtek RTL8723) = max. 150mbps 2.4 GHz & BT 4.0
1 x AXP221 Power controller

The supplied ROM is based on Andriod 4.1 and as a little bonus supports the exFAT storage standard and hence can read 64 Gb micro SDXC cards. Nice!

The kernel is fixed at 1280 x 720 and there is no alternative firmware to date.

The built-in video player ("4K") is pretty good and allows playback of 1080p & 3D video flawlessly.

So Good things:

• Smooth 1080p video playback
• 3D SBS video playback (HDMI 1.4 support)
• 150 mbps Wireless
• Bluetooth 4.0
• exFAT support
• BT Air mouse support
• HDMI output support for 1080p24

Bad things

• No HDMI audio pass-through (at least I can't work out how to)
• HDMI video controller limited to 2160P output (HDMI 1.4 limit?) even though device can decode 4k video
• BT Airmouse key repeat is annoying
• 720p kernel

This looks intresting. Can you test Archos Video Player and test some mkv's to see if it is smooth?

Hi, thanks for starting the thread. Have this device too. Look at my cooling mode here. I'm running it at 1,152MHz and it's very nice. I was trying to flash a firmware from Mele but could not figure out where was the reset button. So, still on the stock firmware. It's OK. The video playback is really nice on this thing. Hope there'll be some upgrades in future.

The Mele has a RTL8188 Wifi chipset and different NAND structure so I wouldn't bother, you will probably brick it unless you can get the NAND back into recover by shorting pins.

Yep, I found it out too, and so abandoned this idea. Weird, but all the sites said it had 8188. Luckily I could see the real chip inside when doing my cooling mod.

i heard that there is a youtube issue, is that true?

any app that don't work?
Does it have 'root' ?

The device came rooted. Just SU to be installed from market.
As for youtube, the last version shows black screen. So, I ended up istalling older version (YT_4.1.47_v1.apk). Now it plays fine.

Mx player stutters on 1080p, archos also. Only the 4k app runs smooth.

Tried xbmc libstagefright build from 14th July and it crashes repeatedly.

I can set clock to 1.15 GHz (15% increase) and no reboots so will try again to see if extra power improves

Perhaps someone can post a 'firmware' dump/backup ?
Just in case... someone seeks to develop a custom fw

I read that archos fw is the only one.. that has 'stagefright' enabled (archos platinum97)
So, perhaps.. a fw hybide ? ( perhaps lewy/neomode can assist... just a thought )

Well mabey it will help. But i think Archos in current form is any good regarding smooth video. But i like UI alot and i want to use is but only if video is smooth. I have let them know about it and i hope they will come up with a fix asap.
