    Measy U2C Finless ROM 1.4

    Hi all, I got this device from Geekbuying last week and decided to play a bit with it. Bottom line I needed to make my own ROM with root etc to really get a good look at it. Thanks again to Geekbuying for sending me this unique unit.

    So I made my usual first ROM called 1.4. Nothing too special just the usual things I do when I first get a new device.

    So Here is my first ROM for this device. Please feedback welcome and let me know how to works for you.

    As always PLEASE see the Readme doc in the ROM kit. It gives full information about this ROM as well as flashing instructions and tips on using it..


    Features and release notes for my 1.4 ROM:

    1) Fully rooted with the latest SU and SUperUser.apk
    2) All GAPPs updated to latest. This includes the latest Play Store and GMS Core.
    However I cannot update Google Search as a system APP so you will have to do this.
    3) Debloated of unusable APPs and junk.
    4) Cleaned up the file system so it is not fragmented! Basicly I used linux tune2fs when making the images.
    5) Increased "system" space for rooted APP and other root support. You now have plenty of space in system to add things!
    6) I added a reboot APP that will allow you to reboot the device from the Android UI. No more unplugging the unit!
    It will also allow EASY reboot to bootloader so next time, getting into flash mode will be much easier.
    7) Full init.d support has been added! If you do not know what that is... ignore it.
    Basically it allows you to install scripts that run at boot time.
    If your interested, google search V6SuperCharger for a neat speed booster script.
    8) The RK Remote Control APP is provided in my ROM kit. Copy it to SD card and install it.
    This allows you to have a "touch screen" and control the TV stick like a tablet using a Phone or other tablet as the remote control.

    9) I added the Xbox Xpad.ko module to support Xbox controllers.
    10) I added TUN.ko and other modules. Note CIFS.ko and MD4.ko are already in the kernel.
    11) This ROM has several options for you to choose from for flashing so please read carefully how to change these flash options.
    I have provided 4 parameter files. These will increase APP space and decrease internal sdcard space.
    1GB APP space (this is Stock U2C setting).
    2GB APP space.
    4GB APP space.
    6GB APP space! This is the max! This leave only 360MB of space for the internal SDcard.
    Trust this however, some games and APPs install data to ONLY SD card!
    So if you use this expect games that install data, to complain of not enough space!
    If you have a external Micro SD card installed then you should be OK.

              Just to thank you for your work. My Kimdecent B12 was "broken" (not able to obtain ip adresse even after hard reseting...) is now back to life!

                FYI, I am still noticing some performance issues with this stick.

                For instance Netflix is choppy as hell even with good wifi. It usually starts with audio getting choppy and then sometimes video. My other sticks do not do this.

                I have started to tweak more on this ROM and it looks like I have made some improvments with this.

                Stay tuned, I may have a new ROM soon. I just need to do more testing to be sure.

                    Great job, Bob.

                    I am quite satisfied with this ROM (1.4). The only think I notice is that the stick seems a lot hotter than when it worked with its stock ROM.

                      Well there are no kernel changes so it is not overclocked in any way. Thus only way to run hotter is if your using it differently that before.

                          FOR SURE I will do that. I have in all my latest releases.

                          But Leolas has now made a CWM zip that will install it for you!

                              Bob, thanks for your superb work. Do you think that a typical generic USB webcam will work on your setup, for example be accessible by ordinary custom Javascript within a web browser, or by Google voice/video chat, Skype etc?

                              Of course am discussing the need for an additional vga-level generic USB webcam in our dedicated application, *besides* the one physically built onto the nice Measy U2C.
