    There you go:

    1. extract the .img from zip
    2. replace it with the one in the FinlessROM folder
    3. flash rom like described in finless' readme

    enjoy.

Thank you, though I admit I got impatient last night and followed your instructions w/ the other kernel. I had tried it before, and wifi hadn't worked. Turns out, I didn't erase NAND, nor did I allow the wifi time to properly set up before I freaked out and began searching for the stock rom.

Sound works, wifi works, all apps work - no go w/ my Xbox gamepad though. USB Host reads it as 162e:beef Joytech Neo SE Controller. I copied one of the xbox .kl files, and named it Vendor_162e_Product_beef.kl , then gave it full permissions. Still nothing, just flashes at me, taunting me... also put a bluetooth dongle on it, and couldn't figure out how to get it to even turn bluetooth on, but I figured this probably isn't even supported through the rom.

New problem - I can't get Joystick Center to detect my xbox controller (It works somewhat, I can at least navigate a little and select and back out of most apps). I want to have more control, and full button functionality. I downloaded USB Host app, and it says s3c host driver not found. I'm not sure about this, is this needed for JC?

This firmware is designed 2dark4 for UG002 http://www.allminipc.com/download/ to cx 803, but the WiFi module in it other rt8188e.

Could you explain how to do this ? So all installed apps will be backup ?

So you cannot backup using this.

However.... I just figured out a way to backup userdata and then flash it as part of a ROM so on boot, your right back to what you had! When I get some time I will tell everyone how to do it.

After fiddling around a while I tried following:
                1. downloaded handroid's cwm backup (see link below)
                2. extracted his kernel.img
                3. replaced it with the one in finless 1.7
                4. connected device to pc
                5. loaded rom flash tool within finless 1.7
                6. flash rom

Now I got finless rom with proper wifi, sound and xbmc running without any problems. BTW, the kernel is dated from april 9th, so must be newer than the stock or finless ones.

                Hope that helps

I have the same problem as others - after flashing Finless 1.7 rom (with 1080p kernel) I had no sound. I used CX-803 rom on slightly different device - GoClever nanoDROID x2 (http://www.goclever.com/en/products,...id-x2,a58.html). Its's got the same wifi chip as CX803 (RTL8189es).

So I reverted to stock rom and found out, that sound device on stock rom is "ROCKCHIP HDMI". On Finless rom there was no sound output device available.

Finless, can you confirm, that your 1.7 CX803 rom uses stock kernel.img? If so can I use your rom with stock kernel? And finally would you be able to patch cx-803 board 1.6 and other "no sound" devices to 1080p? Kernel has already been posted previously, but I can add a link to nanodroid x2 cwm backup: https://www.dropbox.com/s/z2ggeeqh4v1j1cv/backup.rar

                    Cheers,
                    iibbii

MY CX803 is not booting. It has power (i can see the blue led flashing inside) but it doesn't boot at all. no image on screen. not being detected by windows. What can I do?

If there's anything I can do...

After countless try's I got the windows to recognize this one. (I had to use USB port in the back, so this is the OTG one.)

Now I am getting one error when flashing finless rom 1.7:

When I press erase NAND IDB it says:
                          ERROR lower format failed
                          erasing IDB failed

than if i press flash ROM:
                          test device failed
                          run failed

                          screenshot:
