I want to share my new Android TV-Box based on the MK908.
First time I saw an Android TV-Stick like the MK908 I was happy about the very small dimensions. You can put it behind your TV and it's fine - that's what I thought.
So what happens... I bought a 4-Port USB Hub, external USB-Sound-Card...
And there was my problem - a lot of USB cables. It looks terrible.
So I had a plan: I wanted to build my own TV-Box based on the MK908.
My wish list were:
- a small case
- external wifi antenna
- external sound output und input
- a better power supply (5V 3A)
- a multi card reader
So folks, before I write about the "making-up" I will show you some pictures of the finished box:
Here is the part list:
- Tronsmart MK908 - 69,03 €
- Ethernet adapter - 3,35 €
- USB Sound Card - 2,60 €
- external W-LAN adapter - 4,95 €
- Cardreader - 4,95 €
- mini HDMI to HDMI-adapter - 3,50 €
- power supply 5V 3A - 12,95 €
- power switch - 0,30 €
- fan Sunon 40x40x10 5V - 6,09 €
- mini ITX case - 9,99 € (shipping cost 5,15 €)
- 4-Port USB Hub with digital clock - 5,06 €
- LogiLink 4-Port Hub - 9,83 €
- wifi mouse - 11,00 €
- round switch for power up the card reader 2,49 €
total costs: 151,24 €
The making-up
1. I put the components on a paper base plate in the case
2. I machined the case to make the chamber for the cardreader
3. I made the back board with the holes for the HDMI cable, the sound in/out, ethernet jack and the wifi-antenna
4. Soldering the wifi-antenna to the MK908
5. I disassembled the USB design clock and put it in the case
The cool thing is: The LCD-Display is lighted by a RGB-LED (it changes the color - very nice)
6. Here you can see the mounted and painted base plate and the USB-HUB-CLOCK
7. Here you can see the power switch, the cooling fan and the power connector
8. Power switch for the cardreader
I had to cut off the power cable for the cradreader because android has a problem with the cardreaders with no cards inside (that means: power off, insert sdcard, power on - i don't now why).
9. All parts on place

- power supply
- MK908 with HDMI adapter
- USB-Sound-Card

- 4-Port ACTIVE LogiLink USB Hub
- USB to Etherner adapter

So thats all. My MK908 TV-BOX.
