xbmc will show only 720p until there will be a kernel avilible for 1080p.
advancedsettings.xml will only help with playing 1080p movies.

BTW, I uninstalled XBMC v13, it had continuous script errors. Uninstalled and reinstalled with 12.2 and it works very well... a tiny bit laggy with AEON NOX, but as good as my Asrock 330 HT PC running Win8 which it replaced.

Its working pretty well, though the two things that I need to improve on are xbmc resolution, seems to stay on 720, but I have not applied that xml file yet... also my keysonic wireless keyboard is a bit odd in xbmc. What are you using as a remote?
Yatse is fantastic for xmbc, and for android, I tried DroidMote, but its pretty laggy, and there doesnt seem to be much competition in the Remote Control OF Android BY Android app world...
Anyhow, in general, the box works really well... kalo taxithi

Keep in mind that you will only get 720p native resolution with the current roms for this device.When you're using 1080p resolution in screen settings, the picture upscales from 720p to 1080p.
If you want a true native 1080p experience, you will have to wait until a 1080p rom/kernel is released.
There's always the option to experiment with 1080p roms for other rk3188 devices, but i don't recommend this as you may end up with a non working wifi (different wifi modules).

For remote control im using a Gigabyte Keyboard/Mouse combo and ipazzport kp-810-16 flymouse, both working great. I also have a problem with droidmote, but im pretty sure its the client (my tablet) that has the problem.

some issues arising...

Hi there guys, lewy20041 and all...

Yesterday watching BBC iPlayer, the picture was smaller than the TV, and today the image is completely black, I can hear the audio.

Also YouTube is black in the YouTube app, but does play in XBMC, but at about 11fps.

I tried changing the Force GPU rendering / Disable Hardware Overlays options, as well as from 720 to 1080, but nothing helped.
I also saw that XBMC resolution said 1280x672.

Some odd things going on. I know a new version of this rom is due very soon, but seeing this was working OK yesterday and NOT today, and I have not installed anything since yesterday, nor did I change any settings... very odd. I wonder if some part of the graphic chip blew or something?

I will do a Quadrant test maybe.

Tips/advice very welcome!

xbmc isnt showing you full rec becouse you didnt hide status bar.
its status bar that takes some pixels.
also do other player like mx etc working?
do you use youtube provided wit the rom?

Yeah, I reflashed and it is working fine again... got full screen on bbc iplayer, youtube, not xbmc though (using streaming movies 1channel and Icefilms)
I disabled the youtube that comes with the rom, it crashes every time I try to go to my channel, the latest one on play store does not crash doing this.

Do you know how to unhide the navigation buttons at the bottom? Once they are hidden, I cannot seem to get them back without rebooting the device.

BTW, quadrant is really good, I got 5250... oddly most of the animations run during the test were zoomed in, odd, ive never seen that before.

4:43am and my brain is too busy to go back to sleep!

1. to get xbmc at full screen be sure tu hide status bar befour starting xbmc.
2. to unhide the status bar you need to catch bottom of the screen with mouse and drag it up (not in xbmc).
3. youtube for gtv 1.7.1 have problems with loging to your accaunt so dont do that just stream videos,
youtube in play store its better suited for tablets/phones

thats xbmc problems not the firmware.

XBMC Installer will be pointing to latest "alpha" HW xbmc builds.
if you dont like that you can always install official build but you wil not get
hardware acceleration for 720p and 1080p content.
As to smb, i dont have any problems with it
please post more about it.

That would be GREAT!

BTW, have a look at THIS video, showing a very odd issue that has happened a few times.
Last time it happened I could not get it to return to normal, and pressed some combination of keys near the right shift/enter, and it returned to normal immediately... odd!
