I'm messing around with the linuxium 12.04 ubuntu image on this computer. I was able to upgrade it to 14.04 via do-release upgrade.
however, i can't do any further, I suspect because it's running a 3.0.36 Kernel which is not compatible with Ubuntu 16.04.
Can someone explain what are the consequences of using this 3.0.36 kernel? Could there be problems in 14.04 as well? Is there a reason we can't get kernel 4.x on this device?
