The cased I'm currently using on my MK802IV, it's almost finished, but still needs a bit of work:

I removed it from the original case, placed it on a 2.5" external hdd case and added a 6x6cm fan

The stock wifi antenna was replaced by an external d-link antenna, I intend to add a 2 channel switch
that will power on/off both fan and device at the same time, while using two different power supplies,
the otg port can also be accessed from outside the case, I just need to work out how I will press the
flash button (probably just drill a hole on the case) and how to insert / remove the micro sd card.

I don't think that, because of the way they're installed, your fans are being effective. The cold air has no way to go in and out of the original case to cool the device. That said, I wouldn't use any extreme overclocked kernels with your current setup. The kernel I'm using is the 720p 1.9ghz ram 1500mhz extreme overclock (19177 antutu score), I've tried 1080p oveclocked kernels and I didn't nottice any improvement regarding picture quality or frameskipping when compared to 720p kernels, I use an LG
    led 47" full hd tv.

Wonderful! I love your case BrunoNRG!!!!

My intention is overclock gpu and ram and underclock cpu and as you suggest using the 720p kernel. So I think this is a moderate overclock. It's just for movie frame skip. I don't play game.
I really like your case but I don't have time to do a serious thing like yours at moment. So I think for now 2 fans are better than no fans

I've tried, it's the same for me with Antutu. Now I've plugged the power supply!

lol insane casing mods there! I've been 1.2ghz underclocked cpu and overclocked ram and gpu and it never gets hot unlike its default or overclocked cpu kernels

Frame skipping/stuttering issues are fixed with an extreme overclock like your?

Thanks, it will look even better when it's finished

"2 fans are better than no fans" - True, (don't get me wrong, I'm telling you this for your own good) unless they're completely unefective, and if the air has no way to go in and out of the device to cool it down, that's exactly what they are...

This was the first cooling mod I made on an android media player, the mk808b comes with holes on both sides of the stock case, I was using a custom rom with a kernel with no overclock at all, and I can tell you that my mod was far from effective, and it was using the otg port of the device itself to power the fans, which is very wrong because the stock power supply that comes with this devices, sometimes, ain't even enough to power the device itself, let alone other hardware we want to plug in.

I never used the kernel that comes with this firmware, I flashed the extreme overclocked kernel and Neo's mk802iv custom rom at the same time, I also use SetCPU and have it set to 1.8 max. 1000 min. interactive governor, for high system performance and benchmarks I set both min. and max. frequency to 1.9 and performance governor. I don't nottice any stutter or frameskipping on hd / full hd content either streaming from the internet or playing from an external drive. I installed MX Player free from the play store and removed the adds with lucky patcher, I nottice that some streaming content has better picture quality (no horizontal cuts) and loads faster using sw instead of hw/hw+ modes. For streaming I use YouTube, WarezTuga (portuguese streaming app with pt subs), MovieX / VideoX (no, it's not porn :P), amo Navi-X, and XBMC sometimes. I have no idea how Netflix runs because I don't know how to use it on Android in my country... I have to figure this out.

Under which circumstances, using what app, playing what (full hd / hd or sd) content, streaming or playing from an external drive, do you nottice the stutter and frameskipping? Send me a link to a streaming video / movie you're having problems with, to see if the same thing happens when I play it with my current setup.

              Flashing on MK802IV S

              Hi Guys,

first thank you neomode for the effort and hard work you put into making good roms!

              I got a question though:
How can I flash your ROM on my MK802IV S.
              It's a 16GB version sold in Germany.

When I try to flash I always get "Test failed".
I think it checks the NAND size and gets a wrong answer for not being 8GB.

Is there a possibilty to change the Tests?

              Thanks in advance!

When you get this error try a different USB Cabel and a different USB Port.
This is the most Failure Reason for this.

                  It worked now.
                  Just waiting for the reboot.

Thanks a lot for your detailed report. It gives me hope for solve the issue.
                    This is my situation:

                    -mk802iv
                    -fw NeoTv CR1.0
                    -1.2ghz gpu 600mhz ram 1200mhz 720p kernel

I use xbmc xaf version so I use Mxplayer free as default player for xbmc. I watch sd, hd and full hd movies.
Sw and Hw+ are flaggable but when I try to switch Hw mode I see this pop up:

Only some SD movies could be run in HW mode. With original firmware all of movies (sd, hd, full hd) had worked in sw, hw+ and hw mode to.

                    This is my screen configuration:

With this configuration I have best performance, stuttering is much better:

MXplayer must be set on "Fit On Screen" for best results.

At moment when I play movie form external hd:

                    sd works well
hd works a little little bit stutter
full hd works a little little bit stutter

                    When I use samba

sd works well only with vlc player but is impossible go on a determinate minute. I must watch from minute 00:00 always (while xbmc with default player is stutter)
hd and full hd are very very stutter it's impossible to watch them

Streaming with youtube is a little bit stutter on 720p

In your opinion, what can I do to increase percormance?

Bruno really thanks for your time

                    EDIT:

I've found another issue. My wifi doesn't work stable. Speed test goes from 4.34mbps to 0.72mbps in download. This explane my samba issues. Altough I've done this mod http://www.rikomagic.com/en/news/sho..._28_nid_5.html . Hope I can fix it with ferrite on hdmi cable

I couldn't get my MK809III to run wifi stable, switched over to USB ethernet and it still isn't that stable. Any suggestions? I'm new to both mini PC's and Android. I am an IT professional though, so no need to baby me. Thanks in advance!

Let me ask which kind of power supply you use? Often this failure comes from the power supply.

Try to change to a other kind. I have also the Flycast mk809 iii and no problems with it.

I'm using the cable and usb wall plugin that came with the unit. I downclocked the CPU with SetCPU to 1.2 ghz and it seemed better, but still had intermittent USB ethernet issues while streaming 720 using the Plex app. Now I'm down to 1.0 ghz and playin around with it from here.

I've solved my wifi stability issue changing channel of router from 1 to 9. Now sd movies on samba works very well, hd are a little bit stutter and full hd are very stutter. Very big progress. I've used inSSIDer 3 (windows) for interferences survey.
Now Youtube 720p works perfect, no stuttering, better than movies from external drive (no samba)
Did Somebody knows why I cannot switch to H/W mode in MXplayer free after neotv fw flash?

                            Thanks

How do I flash this ROM?
