Question: Youtube in browser when playing HD vids...

When I select 1080p, 2160p, etc., how can I tell what resolution is actually being played? The following screen caps for example. I only have a 1080 display, but I'm just curious. Thanks.

I'm afraid it will always be tailored to screen resolution which was chosen in Android settings (display-> HDMI mode).

1080p is fine with me, I was curious if when selecting 2160p, if YouTube was playing a video at 2160p, even though I realize my monitor is only 1080p. In other words, if my monitor was 4K, would YouTube play a 2160p vid@2160p? The third screen cap is of a 2160p vid. When Youtube indicates the video is playing at 2160p, is it? Realizing the UT3 will output only @1080p due to my monitor.

It should. My little concern is that from what I heard when you set HDMI output mode to 4K then UI is a little bit sluggish. But video should be displayed by overlay and hardware accelerated without permanent slowdowns.

It probably depends on firmware/kernel used and rendering method used.. (see link added)
Most Android Gui is set to 720/1080p.. if youtube is s/w rendering, then its probably limited to the Gui resolution
If its h/w decoded then its probably limited to the codec used

I think..?? My 2sec thought anyway

Thanks for reminding me. I forgot that setting HDMI mode is only connected to scaling used by Android to present framebuffer. To see whole UI in 4K you should also use "wm" command like this: "wm size 3840x2160" then you should see 4K YouTube video in web browser.

It is a shame that you didn't test 4K YouTube playback.
