Any ROM developer for Lenovo G66 with everything ready including SDK,opensource, wifi,BT chip?

    Hi Gurus,

Since this machine has quite good heat dissipation design, fast EMMC,it's RK3288 performs good.

Anyone interested to develop a ROM for this one. It's wifi BT chip is AP6356s,which is so common, even found in Beelink's GT King Amlogic 922x,driver shouldn't be a problem any more.

Now stuck with the stock ROM of 4.4.2, on which many APPs fail to run.

I'm happy to test for any customized ROM,thanks.

    RK3288 5.1 SDK https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...1GyYitUOsBZipQ
Firefly is a brand owned by T-chip Technology. It operates open source products, communities and online stores. It has a large number of enterprise users and developer users, and its products are well received by users. Firefly open source products include open source boards, core boards, industry mainboards, etc. The open-source board series is the recommended board card by chip original factory Rockchip and obtain the support of native SDK. The core boards and industrial mainboards are widely used in commercial displays, advertisement integrated machines, intelligent POS, face recognition terminals, internet of things, intelligent cities, etc.

4K@60hz is not possible on RK3288, only 4K@30hz since the device was manufactured in 2014.
You don't link to any SDK of the device only to RK3328 which is a completely different chipset.
So no one will be able to make a custom firmware for it.

      Hi Mo123,

You're the most respected ROM developer I have known.
Sorry for my wrong link, edited for RK3288,new links for RK3288.
Would you please customize a ROM of G66?I would like to test it even if it'll brick it.

4K 30FPS is of course acceptable!

According to this article through google translation about different rk3288 versions :https://blog.csdn.net/kris_fei/article/details/86628730
Lenovo G66 has RK3288-CG with a manufacture date of 2015,39weeks.

Unfortunately I can't download any SDK from those links.
You need Rockchip's authorisation to download from there.
Does my Lollipop HPH RK3288 firmware work on your device?
Can't Lenova provide the latest firmware based on Lollipop or Nougat perhaps?
Without the latest firmware on a newer OS or the correct SDK with the right drivers for your device, I won't be able to do anything and don't have time to work on it.

      Hi thanks mo123,

I have deleted the first one that needs Rockchip's authrisation.
At least this SDK for Android 5.1 in Google drive is downloadable, and MD5 check. https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...1GyYitUOsBZipQ

I have not tested your HPH RK3288,certainly wifi & BT is different,And also the RK3288 version is a little different if you read my post carefully.and I may test it soon after I got a backup box.

Lenovo already gave up this product.

With the above 5.1SDK and also the AP6356S driver,is it possible for you to have a customized ROM?As this link suggests it's quite possible.

Thanks agian.Hoping other ROM developers can spot this post.

      Thanks again.

Further searching, found it's possible,DO really need guru to develop the ROM

By clicking the source file,AP6356 was added https://bitbucket.org/T-Firefly/fire...Firefly-RK3288

I think that box was originally sold as a gaming box tied to a gaming service. That fell apart and then these showed up briefly on some sites sold as a TV box. Firmware updates were doomed from the beginning. Without paying, I would think it will be hard to find any developer willing to build a custom ROM for this box. Community developers usually set their sights on boxes that are owned by many users. Unfortunately, I don't think many users own this box. Hardware wise, it seemed decent for the , if I recall correctly, under $70 price.
It might be easier and cheaper in the long run to find a new box with the features you desire. It would be a good idea to look for manufacturers who have proven to support their devices over the long term. The field is pretty narrow in that regard.
While you could experiment with flashing other firmware to your Lenovo, the possibility of bricking the device might be high.
There was a time when you could swap certain sections of an Rockchip ROM out with components of another maker's ROM to get things like WiFi to work, not sure that works these days.
          Good luck.

            Thanks for your comments,enlightening.
The one sold in the market with 5.1 actually has problems with BT and they didn't use the upated SDK,for this CPU RK3288-CG could go up to 1.8Ghz,their only goes to 1.6Ghz.

Pity myself for lack of skill of building ROM.Really love this box, haven't seen any better heat dissipation design.

              Hi Mo123,

Does your latest HPH RK3288 firmware inlude drivers for AP6356?
I see that it's already android 7.1? So you have RK3288 Android 7.1.2 SDK already? Any diffenent? If you have time,I mean you still need RK3288 Android 5.1 SDK for this particular Lenvovo G66?
I believe you have RK3288 android 5.1 SDK too.Forgive my questions if it's stupid.Building ROMs is really a whole new world to me.

I'd like to try your latest HPH android 7.1 on Lenovo G66,maybe modifying some wifi & BT modules.I need a backup machine before testing.

It would be too difficult to make a ROM for such a device and I will need a device to test on.
I also don't have the time to make ROM's for devices which will most likely not even boot and I don't have any of the gpio pin numbers or patches from the manufacturer.
So it's better to buy a new device that will work far better.
The 5.1 SDK only has support for RK3288 not the other chipsets like RK3288W, RK3288-CG.
I modified the manufacturers own Nougat firmware that already worked on the HPH NT-V6 device so that can't be made compatible with G66.
So you can try my 2 firmwares but if they don't work I can't do anything.

                  Hi Mo123,

                  Thanks.

Which 2 firmwares you mentioned should I try?

Is it possible for you to add AP6356s in your HPH NT-V6 latest root Android 7.1.2 firmware?Does HPH NT-V6's RK3288 goes to 1.8GHz?

By digging in the source file of 5.1 SDK,I found it already added support for RK3288-C,RK3288-W, all can go up to 1.8GHz.

Didn't locate RK3288-CG,maybe somewhere among them...

Found all the 160 GPIO pin numbers in the document http://opensource.rock-chips.com/ima...4-20180530.pdf

Again, forgive me if I asked stupid questions.
