Status bar android 8.1

Hi guys,
bought myself a RK3229 HK1 mini after bricking my mxq.

the new one runes on android 8.1 but I can?t seem to find the status bar. Not when i point the mouse to the edges nor in the menu?s.
can someone help me out? I need the status bar for checking vpn when running kodi.

Oreo was designed without a statusbar for RK3229. RK3328.
Rockchip might have a patch to add it back but then the manufacturer has to build a whole new firmware.
