Same serial number on two devices

Hello there,

I hope you can help me with my problem.

I've got two H96 Max+ (CPU: RK3328, RAM: 4GB, ROM: 32GB, OS: Android 8.1).
The device is already rooted.
Unfortunately both devices have the same serial number, so I want to change the serial number (can't use an app on both devices simultaneously because of the serial number)

I try to install Xposed (via APK) but I get following error:

- Placing files
gzip: short write
Error 1 occurred

Is there any possibility to change the serial number and/or get Xposed installed?

I couldn't find a way to change the serial number without Xposed.

Did you mean the Serial Number on the outside of the Box or the Mac Address of the Device?

No I don't mean the Serial Number on the outside of the Box or the Mac Address.

I mean the serial number you can see if you go to settings -> System -> About phone -> Status
