Has anyone experience with this device? I bought it because it's a great bang for the buck (hardware-wise), however the software is total garbage.
I tried to run Armbian/Libreelec, but it seems like TV Box is completly ignoring the SD card and straightly boots into Android.

Original firmware is available here: http://blog.geekbuying.com/2018/01/a...date-20171221/
The names of some chips are:
    - HT1628 CJ751D
    - FNLINK 6222B--SRB CO1038
    - SEC 628 B041

Furthermore, the TV Box has a "MXQ-RK3328-D4_B VER: 1.1" board and has been manufactured in 2017, so I guess they just want to get rid of it, hence the cheap price. Looks like the board hasn't been designed for this TV BOX, since it offers the possibility to connect a LED display. Maybe it's a clone?

If anyone decides to buy/open this device, be careful with the wifi antennas (?), I just broke mine while opening the device.

One of the worst devices you could have bought.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any reviews about it when I bought it, so I just gave it a try - if anyone knows how to run custom software on this device, please let me know. Otherwise I'll just return it, since it's barely usable with the manufactor's Android version.

        Hi!

I have almost the same box, A5X Max+ (ver. 1.1). My box is unable to boot from sd card too.
But i figured it out, how to flash armbian to emmc.

        I tried the z28 pro image: https://www.armbian.com/z28-pro/
But the loader is not compatible with the device. So we need the MiniLoader from the android image.

With rkdeveloptool, you can flash an armbian image in maskrom mode with the following commands:

        sudo ./rkdeveloptool db images/MiniLoaderAll.bin
        sudo ./rkdeveloptool wl 0x0 images/armbian.img
        sudo ./rkdeveloptool ul images/MiniLoaderAll.bin
        sudo ./rkdeveloptool rd

For maskrom mode, you need to short these two pins while connecting the box to the pc via USB A-A cable: https://forum.freaktab.com/forum/mai...663#post680663

Now i am using the rock64 armbian image (https://www.armbian.com/rock64/), flashed with the above method. Hdmi, ethernet, usb working.

        Tips for better performance:

        1. Lower resolution: in 720p resolution the device is faster.

        2. Firefox is faster than chromium on my device.

        3. Faster memory speed via modify the dts with these ddr_timing values (and compile to dtb and replace the original rock64 dtb): https://github.com/150balbes/rockchi...us-timing.dtsi

        4. Hardware acceleration: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/9310...ck64-renegade/

        5. Install 150balbes's kernel: (download from: https://yadi.sk/d/DSO6euzB3ahemo/ARM...77/default/deb)

        sudo aptitude remove linux-image-rockchip64
        sudo aptitude remove linux-dtb-rockchip64
        sudo dpkg -i linux-image-rk3328-tv_5.77_arm64.deb linux-dtb-rk3328-tv_5.77_arm64.deb
