So what version are you using with the USB?

So far ive tried the eMMc Android 9 rooted and it wont boot, then i tried the SD version also with etcher and it wont post either.

If i put back in the SD card i was using its all fine.

Maybe im not using the correct method?

On both versions i get green led (as normal) then red and white stay on they never blink or change.

Usually when things start to work or do something the red one will blink or go out.

        None

        You are doing Fine

Dont spend to much time on boot from USB

        Ive been trying for awhile.....
        I misinformed you
Cant just burn image to USB DRive/Well maybe

THere is away to Boot from USB
That is why i bought this board.
Have been testing Armbian SD card boot
Trying to learn more about Boot
        Linux/kernel/boot.ini/boot load sequence/boot order/binary
        Armbian Desktop/bionic/uart

Over at Armbian forum thread about boot

If you burn they same image To SD and USB( THey used eMMc and SD card )
Then edit/remove bootload from SD will boot from USB(eMMc)

        So i think
        No sucess yet

Have been using a Crypt that is USB( has its own power source)

Not sure what they are called now/enclosure maybe.
        Trouble shoot corrupt drives
We used to make PVR,s with them
Have taken an old 40 g hard drive and formatted it.

        And will keep testing

I did test Android 7.1.2 SD version
        Took awhile to boot
        Second boot way faster.

For the pi you had to update the firmware or something on the board.

I wondered of you could maybe ghost an SD card on to the USB and get it to boot that way?

Where did you find out the order it boots?

            Oh Boy
Did I overthink/over complicate this one
Script edit command in terminal....... not necessary

            What a Fool I,am
            A Total Imbecile

It was right in front of me
            System Armbian Config

I now have a 1 TB Sata Drive in the Crypt that Boots Armbian from USB
            Even the USB 3.0.

            So
            Thats Testing For You

There is a link on the Pine forum under the Rock64 section but i couldnt find it over on the other site, this board is a few years old so alot of the posts are like 2 years deep

I doubt anyone wants to boot Android from USB im sure most of the users interested in this board are not Android users like i am

Hey Freddy, do you know how to use that Kernal auditor app? On another forum some one sugested i try it to set the CPU governor so i tried it and noticed some improvement, then i tried setting the low memory to kill background apps and i noticed some more improvement

There are other settings but i dont understand some of the terms. Ide like to make a profile for this board to maybe use some of the eMMc like virtual ram imo thats all that is lacking on this board

I watched a youtube video and there was a way to speed up the GPU but im not sure where it it, either i have the wrong version or this board doesnt allow this setting?

                  No
have never used kernel auditor app.

With Armbian/Bionic you can set Low and High
                  Govener to interactive/etc..
                  Its all in system

                  In boards with 4G Ram
Can change Freq there also with bin added to boot
                  Iam off topic

Rock64 or Pine64 suggest no higher than Max 1510000..
                  And better install Heat Dissapate

Yeah DD images use with etcher, i kind alike etcher but im using an older version seems better (1.5.91)

Seems using the right version for the size SD card you have shows the correct amount of space left after the install.

Then the version of SD disk tools i used is v1.53 not sure if this is the reason for your issues or not but ive found issues with the tools versions in the past.

I couldnt get the RK android tool to work from that download site but i found a different version 2.65 worked but the one they posted would update but then fail when verifying the install.

I also had issues with certain SD card adaptors, not sure why but some seem to have connection issues or something, i try everything when i have issues. SOme times it takes me a few trys to figure out what could be the problem.

If you dont care about root ide sugest the community build, which i think is version 7 its good but i like root i can tinker with the kernal settings and squeeze some performance out of the board with the Kernal auditor adjusting the governor and memory settings.

For sure many factors when testing.....
I have lots of other contraptions testing Android...

Version 7.1.2 is best for 1 G RAM

                            Iam going back to Armbian

This board is best used as SBC/Not Tv Box
1 G of Ram is plenty for server/desktop..
Not so much for Tv Box

Virtual Ram u mentioned sounds cool!!!!

                            Forget Android

                            Try Armbian Universal OS

I have a 1 TB Desktop boots from USB on 65 Inch 4K

I wanted 7.1 to work but the video acceleration is better for the mali 450 on Android 9 far as ive found so far.

7.1 and 8 would just blank out on the few apps i wanted it for. I use it for a few apps on the app store.

What are you doing with Armbian?

Hey maybe test the Android LCD version..?

                                I saw it on Rock64 or Pine64
                                Have you tried Pine64 Installer?
                                Its a fork of Etcher

Plug in the LCD came with board..

This is alot of Fun for 7.99
                                They are up to 14.99...now
                                Thx again

Iam not going to buy an eMMc module
Cost twice/three times as much as board
