New versions of Armbian 5.98_20191011 (kernel 4 and kernel 5) and Libreelec 20191011 that can work with USB media on RK3399. The details are looking in this topic.

Armbian (5.98_20191018) and Libreelec KODI-19 (kernel 4) 20191018 images update for rk3399 platform with USB startup support. Important change. When testing these images on Magicsee N6 Max (rk3399) and MVR (rk3328) I found an interesting nuance. If you install one of the versions of Armbian or Libreelec in eMMC of these models with support for launching from USB, you can write to a USB flash drive any version of the image for rk3399 or rk3328 and use it on both platforms (on TV boxes with rk3399 and rk3328 at the same time). I. e. the image from rk3399 can be run on rk3328 and Vice versa (you only need to correctly specify the desired DTB in the settings).

Added universal version of DEV images. It expands the list of supported hardware for both RK and AML platforms (AML runs sound).

A new version of the universal image Armbian 20191118 with the core 5.x (DEV and NEXT).
In this version, the HDMI sound works (for the sound to work, the screen resolution must be 1920x1080), the fan automatically controls the temperature of the system (on those models where there is a connected fan).

                            Libreelec Version 20191125 (kernel 5).
                            Fixes HW decoding.
Images rk3328 and r3399 are universal, when starting from USB media images are interchangeable (the only difference is used for the image u-boot and UART console output settings). Tar archives for updating are also universal.

Note that the new generic images now use a single download directory.

The AML-g12-legacy images are universal. They can be run on the RK platform.?

If the eMMC has a u-boot version that supports direct USB startup, it is sufficient to configure the file (extlinux.conf) and the system can run on RK. If the eMMC does not support USB startup, you can use the combined method. Write to SD card micro image u-boot for the desired model of the RK chip. Write an Armbian image to a USB drive, configure (extlinux.conf), connect both media to the device and turn on the power. The system will automatically start from the USB drive.

The images themselves are in directories with a new label (current version 19.11.3) at this link.

                              U-boot micro-images available for use.
