Ok driver & HW supports multitasking so there should be no probs with IPTV multicast support in principle. If it does not work then it should be an easy fix.

Hi Lokie, do you now have a kernel source you can play with ? if so I would very much appreciate a kernel that was not defaulted to 1080p but rather 720p !! is that do-able ?

Mmm interesting question. I did notice that multitasking is not enabled in the kernel network stack so i suspect that this may be a prob. If it does not work then it could be easily fixed with a kernel update. I will have to look at the aml ethernet driver as well (if the ethernet ip supports multitasking). The ethernet hardware not supporting multitasking may throw in a spanner in the wheels.

Only way is to use custom firmware that is rooted at it's heart. Like my 1.4 or 1.5.

i can confirm this method does work and it does root the Amlogic M8 quad core.

Now if i could just get direction on how to root the firmware, so i don't have to use this method to root every box i load.

Has anyone tried this on the S89-H yet? from a quick look at the .zip I would expect it to work just fine, but thought I'd ask if anyone can confirm.

Thanks Lokie, it's so embarrassingly obvious - when you point it out! Rooted straight away without problem - just not used to using USB to control this type of device.

Whilst trying to root a Tronsmart S89 as per Finless' #1post the wheels come off as the remote stops working.
Once I select the zip file and then "update" the android (recovery?) screen appears which requires the use of volume up/down and power button to make selections from the menu once the unit has rebooted. There are no hardware buttons on the unit other than power so how do I select "apply update from EXT"?

first thing to do is to put the wheels back on
