XBMC for AML8726-MX, which one works?

Ok, I tried several nighties and even the offical 13 gotham.

If I enable AMLcodec HW acceleration I get no video, only sound, it works if I don't select AMLcodec, but the video is not "smooth" I assume because its using SW decoder.

anyone with the same problem? any solutions?

Hey niabi, do you have root? If so do you notice if xbmc swaps out some chmod 666 files?

I use "official" kodi on my AML8726-MX tablet (with root) and on my M8B. I leave all codec enabled without issues with sound or picture.

Yes I have root, and I see it doing chmod 666 while booting. I have 2 devices based on the AML8726, but to be fair both are the same, except for the wifi/bluetooth, and they both have the same problem.

I am using a custom ROM (which is based of the official rom) but I am going to try and use the official rom and see if that helps.

        thanks

Another thought.... have you changed the refresh rates on the hdmi setting? I find 24hz refresh works best with most playback and gives that "smoother" feel.

When you start a playback on xbmc hit the letter "O" (without" ") on the keyboard and you get a info screen just try and match the fps rates best you can.

ahh, good tip, I will try this as well, but I assume you mean without the AMLcodec selected right? since the AMLcodec gives me a black screen :/

Nice.... I've now made an init.d script to change file permissions on boot so the AMLcodecs should work with other gotham builds which don't change the permissions.
If you want to try it let me know and I'll share.

I can try it, but the ones I used did this change everytime they run (the official and nigthies) chmod 666 xxxxx

If they did the chmod my init.d script wouldn't make a difference.

do you know if a .so or .ko is needed for the AMLcodec to work correctly?

No... sorry. Maybe worth a Google or look at xbmc forum? If the module exists in my boot.img (thinking about it I'm sure I've seen it?) so I'll take a look and confirm.
