I tried erase bootloader = 1 and erase flash = 1 but it still boots to openelec and hangs. Anything else I can try

        Try erase bootloader=1 & erase flash=0.
Look on the underside of the box & try to find a restore button(some version of the box seem to have it). There is one more solution, but you need to have male to male usb cable to flash firmware from the pc.

You can try this bootcard maker(I made the backup image from the card created by this tool) too, in case something didn't get restored right: select microsd card, check format-partition & select u-boot.bin from the folder:

Then copy aml_upgrade_package.img & aml_sdc_burn.ini to the card.
Do you have a backup created by TWRP?

Nice one its flashing android again. Now if I put openelec on it again, would it be possible to just flash 5.03_on it? Thanks for your help!

For me the last version that worked well was this:

You have to go to Update app in android & select the zip file then update. It will go in recovery where it will install OpenElec.
Why would you want to install 5.03, if it wasn't stable?

I will try 5.0 for a while, good advice, when I get brave again I will go to 5.03. Thanks again for your help

                      Hi folks, first post :-)
Newbie question probably but please could somebody tell me what "dtd" stands for and what particular voltage is being talked about?
I have a more recent board ECT-TV110_V1.2 20141110 this board has a reset button on its underside although I had difficulty getting it to do much.
I bricked it eventually but have it running Openelec5.00 from microSD using a brilliant boot disk tutorial by Stane1983 http://tinyurl.com/nvkaal3
Still trying to work out how to run without the SD card u-boot.

If you are running OpenElec, then SSH into it & run "reboot recovery" command. Of course you need to have a firmware on a microsd card or usb drive inserted & an usb keyboard or mouse(to be able to control recovery menu).

Thanks for the advice, SSH ing into Openelec works and so does the reboot recovery command. When the recovery console menu is on screen I don't appear to have USB functionality so I think my Android recovery thingy is borked.
I have discovered that Openelec has installed into the tv110 flash and the bootable SD card is only required to get an instance of u-boot going which then boots my Openelec from the internal flash.
Not sure if my understanding is correct but I think that the cpu on power up looks for a u-boot, if it doesn't exist on internal flash it will look for it on the SD card, the u-boot then boots whatever Linux kernel it finds?
Is the bootloader and android recovery the same thing?
If my theory is nonsense please feel free to correct me.
I'm wondering if it would somehow be possible to copy the SD card bootloader to the device flash from the terminal in Openelec?

You need to have usb mouse or keyboard inserted before powering on the box or else it won't work.
This archive contains an update that flashes bootloader automatically once in recovery. You have to extract it on the root directory of the microsd card:

Thanks for the bootloader update csgabe, I appreciate you taking the time to try and help me.
I managed to apply the update but to no avail, I still can't boot or update without u-boot on the sd card.
Updates containing a factory_update_param.aml work ok using reset button on power up as there is no need to navigate in recovery with a keyboard (usb is still broken in recovery).
Usb keyboard works fine once Openelec is booted though.
I'm pretty sure my problem is somewhere in the nand flash u-boot area and that it is corrupted. Maybe this is the code that boots the bootloader?
So long as I keep the boot disk in my Openelec runs great so I guess my situation isn't a dire emergency :-)
This is a brain teaser for sure!

My friend has more or less the same problem, openelec fails to boot without sd card, he went back to android and tried again but the problem reocurred.
