Awesome! Will the 6.0 work with the M8 too?

Thanks very much, i have only seen a few bits of info regarding T8's running OE, but i'm really wanting to upgrade as so many people have nothing but good words to say about it.
I think i will wait for a bit then, but I am really looking forward to seeing your build shortly and joining in the OE experience.
Once again, thank you so much

    1. Can i just install the ver 5.0.3 for the M8 box on pg1 - will it work on a T8 box?
    and if yes
    2. Can anyone point me to a video of the installation as i can't find one, or is there a guide for the whole process that i could follow?

    many thanks

    Hi,

I am working on a MXQ S805 AMLOGIC box that has DVB-S2. It is called the K1. The DVB chipset is AVL6211/AV2012. I tried codesnake version for MXQ and it works great except for DVB which is not recognized at all. I saw that there is support for avl6211 in the MX port (in the meson6 configuration), but I really don't know how to install this driver in the MXQ port (in the meson8b configuration).

    Any idea ?

    @billo,

Go to the first page on this tread, first post. Use Codesnake's OpenElec 5.0.3 build for the MX2.

Have an Ott 2GB M8 box and have been running Codesnake's opelec for some time now. Openelec is so much better then running Kodi in Android, thank you so much Codesnake.. Recently I've noticed some distortion in the top left of the screen when watching video. I've tried a few different add-ons with the same result, I've even switched HDMI cables. The problem seems to resolve itself if I unplug the box for a few seconds and then restart, but the problem comes back in a day or two.

It is especially noticeable when the shot has a lot of movement in it. The distortion is always in the same area (area is blurry). It is not constant, but comes and goes. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue, or maybe its a hardware issue?

    Thanks

I have this M8 2GB box, which I'm pretty sure is a clone, but anyway, I wanted to install your great ROM.

First try: installation went ok, after booting it went again to recovery, some errors were shown (sorry, didn't write them down), so I rebooted the unit, black screen from them on.

Second to 10th try: only black screen. No recovery, no logo, no nothing. Just black screen. I even tried several other ROMs, but none worked.

11th try: I loaded ONLY the recovery.img file on the SDCard and finally the recovery loaded. I did a wipe but nothing more, since I didn't have the zip file.

12th-15th: tried again to load the complete ROM (recovery + zip and aml) with no luck.

16th try: Recovery loaded, zip file started installing. But then, this happened: (see attached image).

So here I am, looking for a answer to this.

Oh, and in between all this, I tried installing the ROM to another M8 box I have, it went ok, fast even. It's from another manufacturer, so it must be a hardware thing.

Yes their is a video problem on the s802 with this 5.95.5 build. It is touch and go on the video playback. Until this is addressed stick with the 5.83 build. just my thoughts.
