TWRP for minix x6, tv110, Beelink s85 and Acemax MXQ

Hi, i did a port from abdul's twrp, so all the credit must go to him.

Note: Only mouse works, physical keyboards doesn't work. So ensure to have a mouse connected.
This method loads the TWRP from sdcard, it doesn't flash it. So when you reboot and pull your sdcard , TWRP will be gone and your original recovery will be there. If someone wants to flash it, just ask for it and i will provide a zip.
    For english users:
    1. Download the zip pack from above
    2. Prepare a microsd or SD card (acording to your tvbox's) with fat32 format
    3. Copy the recovery.img for your tvbox to the sdcard's root filesystem
    4. Insert sdcard
    5. Turn on the tvbox while holding the reset button
    6. twrp must show up, the image doesn't fill the screen, this is ok because it's made for compatibility, you can flash one of abdul's twrp themes to fit your screen. You can find them in abdul's twrp thread for Amlogic M8 tvbox.
Special note for Tv110 users and for the ones that doesn't have reset button.
    1) If your box is rooted, install petrus's reboot app (or similar) , insertd sdcard and do reboot recovery from the reboot app.
    2) If your box is not rooted, you can fool the box. Create a empty txt file just like "rom.txt", rename to "rom.zip", copy it on sdcard beside recovery.img (twrp), run OTA UPDATER from the box and select the zip from sdcard, run update. TWRP will show up and give you an error about rom.zip (that's normal because it's not really a rom ), you are done.

I can't try all of them since i don't have all this tvbox, so don't flash it, just try it from sdcard. If something doesn't work please report it here. Thanks.

Tried this last night on my sumvision cyclone x4 using the tv110 img file and it seemed to work great. There is no reset or power button on this box, but the technique to get to recovery is to apply power and continually press the menu key. I did a backup to USB which seemed to work fine, but I'm a bit scared of trying to restore it! Thanks for your work on this!

Sorry for the delay to answer.
Sure, just tell me for which tvbox model?

I'm trying to do this on a Mobie Dazzler (amlogic 805) using the Minix x6 rom. It doesn't have a reset button so I kept pressing the menu key as bobones suggested. I got into recovery but I couldn't move the highlight bar or make any selections. The volume up and down buttons aren't picked up. Any ideas on how to get around this?

Maybe cause your remote is an infrared one, you need a gyro remote or a pc mouse connected

                Hello,

Like i said on other post i have a backup of my rom with this TWRP mod using TV100.img

But trying to restore i have a boot loop on s805 logo; anyway i can reflash another rom (Daemonium stan mod for s805).

Looking at Abdul.pt TWRP post, they talk about problem between backup/restore of new firmware with some version of TWRP.

Abdul.pt TWRP is ok for firmware until 108 but not for new firmware ?

                What the case here ?

                thank

                  Twrp will not boot.

When I boot into recovery I get :

                  Android system recovery <3e>
                  KOT49H.20150113 test-keys

                  reboot system now
                  apply update from ADB
apply update from EXT > update from sdcard / update from udisk
                  apply update from cache
                  wipe data/factory reset
                  wipe cache partition

applying update from sdcard fails (recovery.img is in the root dir) :

                  no such file or dir

which suggests it's not picking up the sdcard however when I click apply update from udisk it shows rom.zip and system volume information.

                    @HDking

how do you enter to recovery mod ?

As said in first post, you need :

1/sdcard inserted with recovery.img file directly on it (choose one file from the pack, im using the one from tv110 folder)
2/enter recovery within android if rooted and some power off / reboot apk; or with reset button if you have
3/if you havent reset button or box not rooted just read "important note point 2"

That's exactly what I'm doing. As per the guide I have an empty rom.zip file and an recovery.img file. As soon as the box boots I keep pressing the menu button. The receiver then goes into recovery but not Twrp.

You are using the menu button of your remote to enter recovery.

I dont know where but concerning twrp you need to use other method than your remote, like petrus apk to reboot to recovery or other method; i have to look where is it.

don't you have reset button on the box ?

try this one: open terminal emulator
insert sdcard with the recovery.img from my zip.
                          run:
                          su
                          reboot recovery
                          that should load twrp.

When I typed su and hit enter the console said su not found. I need to install super user? I don't think it's possible to install SU without root? I ran:

                              reboot recovery
It rebooted but went back into normal recovery.
