I just installed this version: OpenELEC-Amlogic.HD18Q.arm-5.0.8 on my new HD18Q all black box, however, my OK button in the middle is not working. I thought it was supposed to be fixed in OpenELEC-Amlogic.HD18Q.arm-5.0.8 this release of the firmware? Please help.

Just an update, I copied the remote.conf file posted earlier in this thread for the HD18Q remote into the config folder and rebooted. After doing this everything is working like a charm. Thanks to the OP for the hard work he put in. You're the man. Also, the rom is super fast, very impressed.

I got 5 of these boxes for family and one for myself, however, they came with a upscaled 1080p version Android rom, which even though showed 1080p in Android settings however, only showed 720p under kodi, which I knew meant that it was upscaled and not true 1080p. Which is confusing as this cpu is fast enough to support 1080p rom, why would they not just make a true 1080p? Also, I opened one of the boxes and was surprised to see that there is an actual heatsink on the cpu, unlike the Beelink MXQ that I have, this definitely seems like better hardware and for some reason the picture also seems more sharper, however, Beelink is on top of their game when it comes to firmware support. However, the Beelink MXQ doesn't have a heatsink and sometimes it freezes completely, I think it is due to the heat.

My sister wants only Android on her machine, so if someone could please point me to a Android rom which has true 1080p for this unit, please do, would appreciate it very much. Thanks in advance.

Another note, I was unable to make on of my favorite addons work with Amlogic boxes, which is Filmybynature, it would only show black screen with audio, however, this rom has made it come back to life again

I suppose you are getting this message with a "non-test" release? This is because of modified DVB core in Amlogic kernel. In the test version it has been reverted to stock but it still doesn't work properly.

It should be able to handle them. If you want to be sure, simply post a short sample so that we can tell you if it works. Personally I did not have any problems with high bitrate videos but they were all progressive (e.g. 120Mbps "Jellyfish" test video).

Awesome seeing how this project has developed. Even OE6 now
I kind of switched to using my FireTV more though, as I was watching quite some US TV-Series, that seem to be affected by this bug:

          - 29.97 progressive videos stutter

I think this was more a generic AMLogic bug, right?
Any idea if and when this might get fixed?

          Thanks,
          freezer
You are right, this is a generic bug. There is a new kernel release from Amlogic (2015-04-01) and maybe the issue has been solved but I have to make this kernel work on our devices first. I don't have much time recently but I'm working on it.

The all -black MXQ comes with 2 types of remotes and only one of them if fully supported. A fix for this is scheduled for the next release. To fix it now you can download a remote.conf file from this post: http://freaktab.com/forum/tv-player-...582#post497582 and place it in Config Windows share.

Edit: Sorry, I did not notice your posts on the next page. I'm glad you solved the remote control issue by yourself. For Android, you can try using SPMC by koying.

Did anybody try fastforwarding any video? When I fastforward(2x for example) a video, the playback isn't smooth, every 3-4 seconds video slows down(this is happening on every OpenElec firmware, including kerber's version too).

Remote works great now, only thing that doesn't work on the remote is the mouse mode, where you can control the cursor movement. I really don't use that much at the moment, however, it would be nice to have that work as well, for navigating through a video. I used SPMC with the Android machine however, because of the resolution screw up the video gets shrunked and is pushed towards the top left corner for the screen, I think this is because of the resolution mismatch between the Android upscaled resolution of 1080p and SPMC and other XBMC/Kodi builds detecting on 720p resolution. If someone can point me to a Android build for this unit that actually does true 1080p, I'm sure SPMC will work fine.

Guys, is there a way to install google play store in a rom that doesn't have it. I finally found a good Android based rom for this unit but, it wasn't rooted and it also doesn't have play store, however, I was able to root it using the s89root.zip but can't seem to install gapps file I downloaded from the net, It says it installs in recovery but, none of the playstore apps are visible.

Your post is off-topic. Here we talk about OpenElec which isn't Android.

Hello, first of all I stand and I appreciate the help.

My first question may be somewhat stupid, still have not received my mk808b + but from what I've read I think the first thing I'll do when I get is to install OpenELEC, I am very interested to use the TV remote via HDMI-CEC. The question is: can I install applications as youtube or can I just use KODI as mediaplayer ?.

Sorry if my English is not very good.

Is there a way to backup gui settings in openelec? Reason is that I saved the .kodi folder and copied it over to the openelec configured machine. However, I had to set up all the gui shortcuts and everything over again. Is there a file or folder that you can backup to get the settings back how you set them up earlier?

Edit: This is the Ethernet adapter that I purchased that works great for my MK808B+ , http://plugable.com/products/usb2-e1000. I had a couple of other Ethernet adapters, but they did not work very well.
I bought mine from Blinq for $15, but they are out of stock now.

Someone posted the Tronsmart USB Ethernet adapter used on the MK808b plus with Android is working, the spec sheet shows support for linux as well so I may give it a shot. I do not have any Mpeg-4 1080i files to test or upload, despite looking around on the web.

The one that I posted is expensive, but it works great with OpenELEC on my MK808B+ and it is gigabit and a lot faster than the adapters that aren't gigabit.

                              MK818B, T428, ATV 1220, CS918S, TV01, S89H, R89, ADT-1, MK808B Plus, MINIX X8-H Plus, Tronsmart Orion R68

I don't know if the mouse mode is possible, if it is implemented on the software side in Android it will be quite hard to have it working in OpenELEC.

OpenELEC is pure Kodi plus you can install plugins from OpenELEC repository. You can't use Android apps but there is a YouTube plugin if that's what you're after.

I will be looking into USB drivers to see if RPi drivers can be ported to our boxes.

Settings -> OpenELEC. There is a backup option that you can use to make a full backup or import backups from other OpenELEC devices.
