I am on Ethernet and not wifi and still having issues.

Seems pretty choppy, I think the hardware should be able to handle it fine.

I will try over my NAS to see what happens.

    Thanks

I am LAN as well and Youtube will give me issues streaming. I fix it by turning off HD(lower left hand corner when full screen) and letting the video load. Then I back out of youtube go back in and boom HD now works flawlessly. I think it is a buffer issue. All other streaming apps work great including XBMC.

      You are on 4.2?

When you say streaming over XBMC are you talking about net streaming or LAN?

      What source are you using?

I REALLY want this to work well for movie nights outside and all.

I am using a Bluetooth audio receiver and things are working well, just need a good video source.

      Are you also on WIFI?

      Thanks!
      Mike

I'm not on this rom yet, I am on Finless 1.7b.

streaming over LAN from XBMC/browser/youtube/and PC all works.

I actually use my phone to stream from this device over my WIFI network and VIA FTP on 4G and it works pretty well with a BIG buffer in the beginning of the movie.

So you are using a BT receiver.... are you getting 5.1(and I mean seperate 5.1 channel) sound?

I am curious about your comments.

A bunch of us have noted frame skipping / juddering on the Imito using 4.1 firmware. The problem is also there on MK808 devices with 4.1 firmares... Are you saying this has been solved?

You can go look on armtvtech, hyp3r has posted a video of the problem:

          Has the problem disappeared?

          Thanks!
Hello! It seems to me that the problem has disappeared. The video quality is significantly better. Hope to see comments from others.

I'm willing to give it a try...

            Hi and thank you.

            I corrently have Finless's 1.7a flashed.
Wondering, are there any special cautions when updating to this new ROM?

I seem to remember reading something about some problems with the partition sizes mismatch.
I think I flashed Finless with a 2Gb parition, probably should flash it again with 1Gb before flashing this oficial ROM right?

            Thank you

And did you have a 1Gb or 2Gb size for apps on your Finless?

This happens to be the case on all 4.2.2 ROMs so far. Even the new quad cores with 4.2.2 it causes the stick to crash. My bet is Rockchip has not made 4.2.2 drivers for this yet and the 4.1.1 drivers crash.

I flashed this ROM and everything looked good.

MX Player opened all my local and network files.

I cannot get Helium backup to run since I cannot verify with my PC. I don't remember how I had it setup before or if they changed their app since renaming it from 'Carbon' or if I had it working before with Finless 1.7 due to the device spoof. Regardless, I cannot get past the activation prompts in Helium.

The killer: Netflix doesn't play correctly. Videos appear interlaced or doubled like it's not decoding right.

I haven't put too many apps back on it with 4.2 ROM yet. If it won't stream Netflix I'm going back to Finles 1.7 for sure.

                      Youtube works.

This is frustrating. I am going to leave it on 4.2 for the rest of the week. Maybe I can uninstall and reinstall Netflix and get it working?

I'm bummed about not being able to get the Helium backup done, but Netflix is what I use my MX1 for the most after LAN streaming.

No 4.2.2 ROM will play netflix at this time. The video interlacing is jacked up.
So no you wont fix it. I think this has to be fixed by netflix and the reason I say that is older versions of netflix do not interlace like that on 4.2.2.

Decided to have a play with this one on my MK809 ii.

Overall responsiveness was very good indeed and it felt very 'buttery'. My wireless mouse responded in a very smooth way, which I have not felt before.

WiFi, although having the same signal strength as I am used to was a little slower.

This is the first ROM I have used where BBC iPlayer allowed me to scrub through a program without the video freezing and the audio continuing although video and audio were always slightly out of sync.

I ran the test videos that I downloaded from a link on here and video/audio was again slightly out of sync, even when played with MX player and one or two of the videos froze for a long time when using pause/play.

The video quality was generally better than I am used to seeing except Youtube, which has always played flawlessly no matter what ROM I have used.

Going to try XBMC next to see how it performs.

Once this is modded, I could potentially see it as a reasonable ROM to use.

At least this is one stock ROM that gives you a 1Gb partition, instead of the measly 512Mb that I have seen from others.

Hopefully this weekend I will be able to do something with this ROM.

I'm going to root mine and see if I can side-load the Netflix apk I have on my Nexus 7 tablet.

I thought this ROM was rooted, but it's not.
Well at least doesn't seem to grant Superuser permission to anything for me...

Since the Nexus 4 and 7 are both 4.2.2 maybe the version of Netflix on them might work??

Honestly though I'm only messing around here. My statements are merely observations. I only know enough to be dangerous.

I did manage to get the Helium working. At least authenticated. I piggybacked on Moborobo connection to get proper USB drivers going.

The truth is, and it has been said many times here that I have seen, is that the USB on these Android sticks is very finicky. One cable may work and another may not.

I do not have an easy way to be connected to an HDMI and my PC at the same time without a USB string of cables. So I can't always see if what I've done through USB is correct or working.

My success of getting the drivers on my PC for Helium to recognize the connection may have only been the difference between one cable or another. Moborobo helped me see the MX1 screen while I was troubleshooting it though. It windowboxes the output from the stick with only the OTG port plugged in.

Maybe spoofing the Nexus 7 or other device would allow the same sort 'less restricted' access to the Play Store like the Finless ROMS do, but still steer us towards the latest compatible versions going into 4.2.

I'm sure it's easier said than done.

I appreciate all the work and knowledge being shared here. It's fun to have a cool gadget to mess around with. I'm always learning something here and seeing things others are able to do with their devices that I might not of thought of on my own.
