Success!!! The 4GB DDR3L 1600MHz RAM worked and it now boots.....now for the bad news. The BIOS is setup so that any usb peripherals bomb out once Windows boots (this includes the Windows installer!) and it took some time fiddlign with settings to get it to work. Also, I still cannot find out the exact hardware spec of the deivice to get drivers for it!
Windows doesn't have any for the networkign and luetooth side of things as well as some of the base hardware.
I'm installing Unbuntu to do the legwork for me on this and will let you all know later.
Not as easy as it should be this!

I'm very curious how this unit performs vs. the Tronsmart Ara x5 with steamgames such as Ohri, Trine2, Trin3. Will follow this thread and would be glad if you owners can try it out for a spin.

Well, still nothing. The DDR3L I put in thre tonight seems to have not made a difference, however it may be that it was in my desk drawer for a reason and was faulty to begin with. I don't even remeber what it was I pulled it out of!
I shall wait on Amazon tomorow.
What may also be causing an issue is that I have been trying to set it up on my 7 year old Samsung TV in the living room and I may not be seeing a picture due to HDCP issues, however I haven't seen anything like this since the old Vista day when it used to throw a hissy fit when connecting to anything it didn't like i.e. everything!
I really hope that Geekbuying haven't sent me another duff item. This will be two in a row!
I'm going to pop into my office tomorrow and drag hame a spare monitor and hdmi\dvi adaptor just in case.
I shall keep you all posted.

The max frequency of the RAM is 1333 MHz so you can buy RAM that works at such speed or faster (although you still will get 1333 MHz).

It was just plain DDR3 1333 I had in there. It has to be DDR3L. As I said, I have a stick on delivery from Amazon which will be arriving tomorrow. I shouldn't imagine a higher rated RAM making a differnce, it will just work at the max bus speed. If you get one of these you will find that the supplied 'instructions' are very vague and as with most things coming out of China they seem to have been designed over lunch.

From past experience with boards and mems, its a hit and miss to put higher speed on the board.
Some boards just run the memory at the highest speed in can support while others just do not post unless the memory falls within its specified required specs

The 1600Mhz is slightly cheaper than the 1333Mhz memory

Hoping your 750Gb HDD will work as I am planning on putting a 1Tb 2.5 in it for a start.

Took delivery of mine yesterday and spent the evening trying to get it to boot. I totally missed the fact it requires DDR3L (low voltage) RAM so failed miserably with not even a beep or screen image appearing.
I'm having a 4GB stick delivered tomorrow delivered tomorrow and will let you know how I get on.
I also notice that it is quite specific about HDD size as well as SSD. As I only have a 360GB and 750GB spare (as well as a 128GB SSD (somewhere!)) It'll be interesting to see if the stated 160, 320 and 500 sized drives is set in stone as I really can't imagine any modern BIOS that would be so dumb as to require a set size of dirve to be fitted.

It mentions 500Gb HDD (not SSD) at max sieze on the website. Do you think it will support a 1Tb HDD 5400rpm ?

3.3v seems to be the norm for Msata drives across the board in general.

Perhaps they have only tested up to 128Gb.
