What do you think the chances of a recent update thru Windows could have caused this problem, the power off was the killer
Did you happen to notice any updates ?
    Cheers

I did notice that there was an update yesterday. This morning, I was watching TV using Kodi, and had to do some running. I turned off the TV but left the box running. When I got back a couple hours later, the box was off and the light was off. Never turned back on. Tried for several hours off and on, but no luck. I think she is dead. I was tempted to open it and look to make sure the power button is actually being actuated when I depress the button.

I've had occasion to leave mine on for a few hours and it just goes into sleep mode, which is awoken with a click of my mouse.

I did the same thing as Clarkss12 tonight and it behaved as normal.

I also have all the latest Windows updates, so don't think it likely to be that.

If it's not physically showing any power on pressing the power on button then it sounds like a hardware/power fault somewhere as the least I would expect from any issues regarding Windows would be to be able to get to the BIOS.

Since my box is dead, I realized that out of all my boxes, this is by far my best one yet. When I first received it, I was not impressed at all, but after a week or so of getting used to Windows 10, I is a fantastic box. It bumped my more expensive MINIX X8-H to second or third place. Of course my $35 MK808B Plus is still my meat and potatoes device, since it is my DVR backend.

I have been singing praises for this box. This morning I was using it with Kodi to watch TV, I had to leave so I stopped Kodi but left the box on, and turned off the TV. When I returned a couple of hours later and turned on the TV, this box was shut off. I have been fiddling with it for about a hour so far, and still can't get it to power on. I have tried all sorts of combinations to get it to power on, but no luck. When I unplug the power and re-plug it in, the light on the top will come on for about a second, which is normal for this box, but by depressing the button on the front of the box, it will do nothing. I tried several things, I removed the Ethernet cable, unplugged it, and plugged it back in, same thing, light comes on for a second or two then goes out. I have tried just giving it a momentary depress of the on button, and even held the button for 30 seconds or longer, still won't come on. I have tried removing the HDMI cable and the adapters for the remotes, still no luck. I now have it sitting on my desk plugged in, but it is dead.............

    Any suggestions???

    thanks.

Edit: I checked the voltage for the power supply and it reads 5.26 volts DC., So, should be ok, but can not check the amperage.

I had similar problems when I first received the box a week or so ago, it would not turn on. I thought it was dying. I did like others have suggested, I removed the Ethernet cable and also the HDMI cable, then it powered on. Since then I have installed the Windows 10 OS directly from Microsoft and used the drivers posted on Geekbuying website and have not had that problem since.

A couple of items to note while I am here, Using the monthly of Kodi 16, everything is functioning very well, I *think* it now plays my BluRay videos with real DTS-HD Master Audio surround sound. When I first got the box, the audio would stutter while playing the videos, but not now. I have reinstalled the OS a couple of times and have reset to factory several times. The video in my opinion is awesome. Also, Netflix does play in full HD with DD+, which is great, however using the Netflix app, is not very functional, better to use the browser for Netflix.

I wanted to see if it had the power to be an Emby and Plex sever, it does not. I also, tried using this box as a PVR backend and frontend for NextPVR, but NextPVR runs too slow. Using my MK808B Plus as my backend PVR, live TV on this box is fast and works good.

When I first received this box, I was not overly impressed with it, but as I have used it more, I am getting to like it better.

I tried with nothing plugged, not even the TV, also plugging it directly to the electricity socket, but same thing happened. Could it be the power supply? It's american, using it in Europe with an adapter.

Something to report to Tronsmart support then as it's not the normal behaviour.

When I push the power button, the led goes on, but after one or two seconds, it's off again. Then when I try to push the power button for the second time, the device starts working as expected. What could be causing that behaviour?

Apart from that, the USB 3.0 doesn't work with my external hard drives. I guess it doesn't have power enough to operate the drives...

    Thanks!

You have to press it in for a couple of seconds for it to fully power on.

When power is initially supplied to the box from the mains there is a brief flicker of the power light, which probably indicates the possibility of wake on lan being able to work when there is a modified BIOS to allow it.
