Hi Trebor. When you tested Y8, were there problems with installing apps from Google Play, as in R99 CSA96 tablets? Or it was okay?

Cheers Trebor. I might just do the mod you have to be honest. Lol. It was a thought though.

Does anyone have any thoughts on installing the Ubuntu Linux or even the dual boot Android/Linux firmware from the Firefly RK3399 Development board.
The only difference i think i had found was the Ethernet port, being a Realtek RTL8211E on the Firefly and all the other addon interfaces the firefly has.
i think It would be insteresting to see if this works,
im happy to try it as long as we can get our hands on the original Y8 firmware for recovery reasons
I have ordered my Y8, should be here in max 3 weeks.

Dont know if you need a fan, but you could tag of the back of a usb port 5volts. (2 wires)
It would run continuous, a switch in line to turn it of would also be an option.
I found that the Yundoo Y8 has a quick recovery, temps go up and down quickly unlike others that just go up and stay.

Now it work much better than on "original" firmware which was limited to Android KitKat. Updates camed only for about half a year after product release .
Thanks to Wasser this device is quite usable with Android Lollipop and recent security updates. Maybe not so recent because they are from October last year.

Does the YUNDOO Y8 support HW *Rockchip acceleration*? (in Yundoo "TVMC 16.1")
    HW 4k1 (10 bit x264) - work?
