Need Advice: Use a X96mini to power digital signs?

    X96mini, AmLogic 905w, Android 7.1.2,

Goal: I'd like to use affordable Android TV boxes to run my custom signage app in "kiosk mode" (meaning the app is always launched when the device starts up, and people can't back out of the app). I thought the best approach was to set it up as a COSU (Corporate Owned/Single Use) device. (cite: https://developers.google.com/androi...uirements/cosu)

Issue: While I can get a Samsung Android tablet provisioned as a COSU device using Google Management APIs (cite: https://developers.google.com/android/management/), The X96mini TV box has very different behavior after a hardware reset, and I can't find the opportunity to interrupt the consumer setup process to provision it as a corporate device. (3 methods here: https://developers.google.com/androi...ovision-device)

    Questions:
    1. Is what I'm trying to do impossible because the AmLogic is an AOSP device and these REST APIs from Google are for non-AOSP devices?
    2. Or... is it possible that the "right" ROM will fix my problem and make the device to its factory-reset sequence same as my tablet? I just need to find the "right" ROM?
    3. Or... would you recommend ditching COSU path and just build a custom ROM with my app baked in? (downside being that the devices can't be upgraded by just pushing a new release to Google Play)
    4. Or... is there another box I should consider instead of X95mini that will save me from messing with ROMs at all?

I'm a seasoned application programmer, but out of my depth in this OS / firmware / hardware hardware stuff. Help?
Working...
