To update you need firmware, I don't see any on the internet. Tv boxes often don't have updates or support.
It is an allwinner box, perhaps e-mail them?
Building your own firmware wouldn't be easy and the processor is fairly old. Buildroot might do it but you would need all the device drivers.
Best advice is use it as it is or buy a new one like the tx6, something with 4GB ram or more.

i must agree with dapra..
the allwinner a10 is quite old.. and with 512mb ram the experience would not be great, even if you could find a upgrade/update

I would also advice you to get a new tvbox -something that has good freaktab firmware/support
