Magg TV Box

I bought a Magg TV box a few years ago. They shut down Magg TV and I want to use the box with a Kodi application. The problem is when I load Kodi 18 on the box, it's really slow and won't play any videos. Even moving through the Kodi app is slow. This box was super fast when it was under Magg TV. What can I do to get this box up and running like it used to?

Yup! That's the one I have. Ok, so that is a new firmware that should get my box up and running again? I'm new to flashing firmware like this.

LibreELEC is a linux based Kodi app. You create a bootable OS onto an SD card and run LibreELEC from that SD card. It does NOT touch your version of Android........

For Amlogic devices you must use CoreELEC because it uses the older Vendor compatible kernel and is currently running Kodi 18.6
if you want the latest Linux Kernel updates and to run Kodi 19 then LibreELEC has Nightly/DEV software versions for Amlogic

Ricklar, I'm new to this so what you're telling me I really don't understand. I'm willing to give this a shot, but I basically need to know where to go to get what you are talking about. Do you have a link or anything?

Search "CoreELEC" on Google while on your PC, it will direct you to their official home page.

Your PC will need Burning Card software, currently the best is Balena Etcher for Windows and Linux

CoreELEC has a guide thing to help you select the correct software. Things to know before hand is what CPU your device has and what Ram and Ethernet it uses...
example: S905 CPU with 2GB Ram and 1GB Ethernet or 100mb Ethernet

Download software, inside Etcher select CoreELEC and select a clean SDcard or USB drive to burn file too.

Once file is burned, exit etcher, open file manager for the new CoreELEC partition of the Card and proceed to find your matching DTB file, copy that to the Root / of the same partition and then rename it to dtb.img

Then have to insert Card into device and download Terminal Emulator from Play Store and type :: reboot upgrade
if that doesn't work download the app Reboot LibreELEC from Playstore and try using the app to Reboot device to your CoreELEC software

Note: If you only have a USB drive to use, it must be in the OTG port of your device, and will take trial and error to find the correct port if it is not marked.
If you have to buy a new SDcard, the best Cards to buy when running an operating system like CoreELEC are Lexar 667x cards or cards that are "A1" rated cards meaning App rated cards.

Currently the best Kodi software for Amlogic devices is CoreELEC. It is an evolution of the old LibreELEC and OpenELEC. LibreELEC doesn't want to produce code for any devices that don't use a Mainline Linux Kernel and have Upstream support.

This LibreELEC port is last updated 2019-Mar, at least CoreELEC is being updated
