Hi Finless. I tried the function Quickboot this night. My drum kit decreased in 13 % for an extinction of 6 hours 30.

This option consumes a lot of energy. Others made the same report ?

Been running this rom for a couple of hours now. Here is my feedback.

      M9 Pro 3g version.
Flashed with the 3G version of the boot.img file
      1. Mobile - Mobile power no longer enables itself with each boot. Fixed. Yeah!!!

      2. Wakelock - The problem is still there. In my case the tab is awake about 50% of the time. The offending process is still rtc_hym8563

      3. VPN - I use a client called Private Internet Access. None of the roms I have tested to date have worked. With all the other rom's when the client would get to the Authentication part it would simply disconnect. The first time I run PIA it gets to the authentication point and then the tab instantly hard reboots. If I try to connect again, after the reboot, it does nothing. No even attempt to initiate the logon process. If I uninstall and reinstall the app, the above sequence repeats itself.

      4. Quick Boot - This new option does not appear to be working at all. The boot time with it Enabled or Disabled is the same. 1:13.
UPDATE: I understand how quick boot works now. Needs to be enabled and then power off the tab. Which essentially puts it in to "Standby" mode.

Here is a video showing the boot time different when Quick Boot is enabled and working. Pretty impressive.

        OOPs - VPN Very broken!

Oh dear Bob. Just flashed v1.5, loaded all my apps back on with Titanium, started my OpenVPN and BOOOOM instant hard reboot - just as rodnentkj reported with Private Internet Access, what we used to call blue screen in the old window days I guess! It must be something to do with the new modules you have installed. Check out how Randy installed, as his worked one time for me, but I am now forced to go back to 1.4 as I cannot operate without a working VPN in this country. It was working fine with my manually loading the tun.ko module using tun.ko loader from the Play Store?? Cheers for now, Colin.

Yeah ok it's not just me.
Which is actually good. Nothing worse than trying to fix something that can't be reproduced.

            Boom

I totally agree Rodnet! However, I will be sitting out the next round and await the KitKat rom from Pipo with great anticipation. From what I have been reading it has been written in a different way, so Bob & Randy are going to have to learn from what they have been doing on the U8. I must say that Bobs ROM flashes and comes up to the first home screen WAY faster than any other ROM I have tried. 1.4 is back up & running as I am writing this!

thanks for the advice! on my screen. i see nth. no sensor data what so ever. all the fields are blank. any idea why? just to let you know the steps i took. i installed cwm. did a total wipe and dalvick cache wipe as well. im currently on another rom. but once i have downloaded this new rom. i will test it again and let you guys know.

i have been doing some research online. apparently its something to do with some cfg files missing to tell the sensors what to do or smth. not too sure about that.

anyway whats being posted on your sensors? any data or words etc?

I am just a newbie, using my tablet for browsing and some games and am in no position to help, sorry. I bet there's others more experienced who can give proper help

                -----------------
After reading previous posts regarding the Quick Boot option, here's my experience.

First time tried a Power Off and normal boot, 1 min 13 sec to load. I then activated Quick Boot and powered off. Started the timer, except the tablet wouldn't power on, no matter what button I pressed. Eventually, I plugged in the charger and powered on. It remained at the "Pipo logo, Finless Bob ROM.." for about 2 minutes then got the loading animation (for about 10 seconds), hard rebooted and then it loaded everything normal.

                Weird huh?

yea. its ok. actually when i got my tab. all was well. except the well known gps and wifi issues. but i thought maybe its the rom issue. i flashed kasty rom. ever since then, this problem started. thinking it could be the rom, i flashed back to riley/finless with no luck as well. oh wells, guess im one of the unlucky few.

i hope its a kernel issue or smth so when a new kernel is updated, hopefully my issues are ok.

for mine, the only sensor that ever says anything is light sensor. no more

btw, for quick boot right, apparently at kasty/arctablet side, they too are having a problem with the quick boot. my suggestion is to keep away from it for the moment.

Well it seems that I am in the same group.
Been out on the net looking and there are lots of workarounds.........

Could it be the different BusyBox?

I used Tunko installer and openVPN to connect to my paid VPN just fine on the Riley ROM 1.9.
Riley ROM 2.0 worked good as well.

                      build.prop

                      Hy,

This time I read it carefully and after aplying it, and it falls in a boot loop.

I renamed it. Only renaming, nothing more.

I cleared cache and data from google play-services and from google play store.

                      I rebooted the device.

Am I missing something, or do I make some mistake?

                      7) Build.prop edit to open up the Google Play store to APPs that normally say "not compatible".
I am spoofing a Samsung device that will show almost any APP as compatible.
Yuur device will show up in google play as Samsung device not a Pipo!
                      Understand this please.
I also left the original build.prop in the ROM called build.orig.
If you want to go back, just use ES FIle Explorer or a root file explorer and rename build.prop to build.old
                      Then rename build.orig to build.prop.
Go into settings, apps, all and go into the Google Play app. Clear the cache and data.
Reboot! You should be back to showing up as a Pipo.

Just installed Riley Rom 2.1 and VPN works for me (with the included tun.ko) ......

I wonder what the difference is between the two roms and their included apps?

I did keep the apps I liked from the Finless rom.....

I will grab the tun.ko that Randy is using and try again. The tun.ko I used I found on the internet compiled for 3.0.36+ kernels. I guess it not a good one.

If one of you has it, use ES FIle explorer and just replace the tun.ko in /system/lib/modules. It should work then.

                            Please help test

OK before I cook another ROM to fix VPN I would like it if you could test these modules in my 1.5 ROM.

                            Download this zip

                            Unzip these 2 modules (tun.ko and md4.ko).
                            Put them on sdcard

                            Install ES File Explorer
Turn on root in ES File Explorer
Make sure to also mount /system as RW as by default it is RO and you wont be able to copy the files.

Copy these 2 files to /system/lib/modules replacing the ones that are in there.
Make sure ES File Explorer confirms the copy and does not give an error.

                            Reboot

                            Now install Android Terminal Emulator.
Run it and at the command line type lsmod
It should list all modules installed into the kernel and tun and md4 should be in the list.

                            Now try your VPN.

                            Thanks,
                            Bob

                              tun.ko

Hi bob, i will give this a try today. Currently on your 1.4 with tun.ko Installed by the installer. I cannot see the file in the system\lib\module folder, but it is in there somewhere. Search on es does not give me the path! Will come back later today. Rgds. Colin.
Edit - the module is loaded onto the SD card by Tun.ko Installer -whch is why I could not find it in \system.
Edit2 I cannot find the md4.ko file anywere on my tablet right now - I do not think it is necessary for OpenVPN ?
Edit 3: My kernel on 1.4 is 3.0.36+ the tun.ko file I have works for this - I will try an extract and attach here for you.

                                tun.ko module

                                OK
                                Bob,
I think I have attaced the file to this post. tun.ko(2) is the name to avoid confsion with the original one you posted. It looks different to your one, but I cannot be sure as I am only iewing in notepad.
