acemaxtec thank you for all your support on this box. I just recieved a box from Geekbuying and the box shows firmware of 20160430.111941.V1031P3 - Is this your box?
Acemax & Eny Technologies use the slap together, ship & forget tv box method.
In the past they were selling previous generation Rockchip RK3188 devices with fake 2GB RAM and using firmware tricks.
As soon as you installed other custom firmware your RAM turned into 1GB(the real value).
With their S805 tv boxes re-sellers that bought several devices from them soon run into trouble.
When they wanted to install the same firmware on a different box it didn't work.
After opening the exact same tv box models the insides all had different wifi, ethernet and other chips.
So they were stuck with the firmware the boxes came with, with no way to fix the broken software.
Every time a new chipset comes out they drop the old one like a hot potato even a week or 2 after release.
Just look what happened with the new MXQ Pro+ S905 tv box they dropped support for.
They just told their re-sellers like Gearbest the device is now discontinued and will receive no firmware updates after several people complained.
On their website they also mention they lock the firmware so competitors can't use it which is very worrisome as you will then easily brick your device if flashing other firmware with no way to repair it.
Read the part - 'Do not waste your money on cheap clone boxes'
They also use several fake identities on freaktab which is not allowed for advertisers.
Lots of the previous warnings of them were deleted when freaktab upgraded their forum software about a year ago.
You won't get firmware updates.
Or exactly the same firmware as previously but with the date edited to a newer date.
Companies like Zidoo or Ugoos really spoil people with firmware updates while other companies have a completely different way of doing business with their customers.

Thank you for the extensive information, mo123 . I only bought the box to get an idea of what the DVB quality is like, which I must say is pretty good using DVB-T2. Pity acemaxtec and other K1 manufacturers dropped the support on this box as it runs actually quite nice!
I still need to figure out how the UNROOT this device, as my cable supplier does not support rooted devices...
LOL ... if you are root you can do anything, including unroot. But then: what if you want root back? Perhaps save a TWRP backup. Remove root is delete su binary and app that manages root. Now, when you do so I do not claim you are in a better situation... so, unroot at your own risk

but why did you alwasy say bad words on we acemax.
1. did you buy we acemax products? and have you tested we acemax products..... if you did not buy from we acemax aliexpress store, we can not guarantee the box is genuine or not.
2. acemax and ENY are 2 companies....we are different. (enev though sometimes the boxes we sell the same cabinet, we can not guarantee that theirs is the same as ours).
3. RK3188, long story, we did not sell many(retails), we just sell to our partners(who asked to buy )....have u tested our boxes rk3188, if not, PLS DO NOT TELL THE OLD STORY AGAIN and AGAIN, and it is the not the first time that you mentioned this on this website. THANKS.

Hello, I have bought some ki plus receiver and they have LMY47V 20160606 test-keys firmware, but this firmware is not in acemax home page.
The ki plus reciver is good, i only find some defect:
1)The support not exist. I have tried by mail, by skype, by aliexpres. If they can not help you, then they do not answer.
2) The has not bluetooth built-in. When i ask in aliexpress if it support external bluetooth dongle, the seller said YES to me. Now, i have probe differents bluetooth dongle and ki plus receiver not detect them.
i have ask about one bluetooth compatible but i have not received answer.
I hope acemax update the ki plus firmware with bluettoh option and show bluetooth dongle compatible list.
3) I think the receiver has temperature level high, If you use some usb device and you touch connector when plug off it is very very hot. I think the solution is one fan inside.
The rest, the receiver work good with s2 and t2 signal, kodi 16.1, etc...
Detail unzip the zip and put only these 3 files below in the pen drive or SD card for installation:

Note: Fat32 format.
To update preserving apk data and settings.
Follow the steps mentioned here by editing the file: factory_update_param.aml
After downloading the zip file open it and find the file: factory_update_param.aml You have to edit it with text editor Notepad +++

Remove the two lines by looking like this:

Save and copy by replacing the original to the sd card or pen driver, all your data and settings will be saved. After the installation restarts it to return the original settings.
