    Beginning with MK808

    Hi ! I'm a MK808 user since 10 days.

It's assumed as MK808 has wifi connection problems, drops and more.

Laest Finless rom 2.1 http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...inless-ROM-2-1 is faster, cleaner thant stock rom but don't correct that problem.

You must 'enhance' antenna, do a modif on the stick : http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...elp-you-do-it!

RK remote work and is integrated in finless and even stock rom, just have to download client if you have a smartphone and want to control MK808 via wifi (same wifi network)/access, or wifi thetering from your smartphone)

Droidmote is faster and more fexible, even if it's not free (server app for MK808) it's reasonnable and worth it especially for gaming. Droidmote client is free for your smartphone.

I use an air mouse & keyboard which is quite good to control MK808 and most pointer app.
This one is cheap and tested ok TSM01 Tronsmart.

A lot of apps doesn't work well on MK808 (wrong display, especially portrait dispalying, wrong display area, app that doesn't launch,... apps that can't be controlled wit remote control or air mouse keyboard, ...)

So i'm testing many interessants apps i was used to on my smarthone (wiko cink) and i'll make a list of best / most useful / most funny apps which work fine to help beginners to know what to download without losing too much time like me.

Playstore doesn't display many apps in it's market when running on mk 808 (such as mappy, ...) 'apps not done for this device'... But you can download from a smartphone or Bluestacks and then use apk extraktor (and a root file explorer) to get them, transfer on sd, and install them without playstore or internet.

WiFi connection issue's are not always caused by a bad/poorly designed antenna as many tend to assume.

In many cases, the problems are being caused by interference from other electronics. The possibility of interference needs to be checked before you start modifying your device or you risk still having problems or perhaps causing more problems because your modification isn't done properly.

WiFi uses the commonly used 2.4Ghz frequency. If you use a bluetooth or other 2.4Ghz wireless receiver ( for say a wireless keyboard/mouse or other controller ) and you are plugging these directly into the USB port... these can cause interference because they are close to the antenna's. Use an USB extension cable with any of these types of devices and move the receiver well away from the devices WiFi antenna.

Other electronic devices can also cause interference. The cordless telephones we use are prime examples since many are also using 2.4Ghz frequencies. Electric motors like those used in fans can also cause a lot of problems. Also remember that your wireless router must also be clear of these other electronics devices as well.

So before you start modifying your device... make certain you have eliminated other possible causes of interference.

PS.... In some cases but not as common and few people consider this... you may find that your wireless router just isn't compatible with your wireless device. The only way to test for this issue is to use a different wireless router for testing. If you have a cell phone or tablet... you may be able to set them up as a wireless hotspot to give you another way to test for compatibility issues.

MK808 GT-I9100 no TV display after spash screen

My MK808 was a 2012 Xmas present. I am just now getting serious with it. I tried it out with my spare LCD SAMSUNG 22 inch monitor on DVI with an HDMI adapter cable and it works quite nicely. When I try to use it with either of my TVs I get a black screen after the boot splash screen. One TV is 720p and the other is 1080p. I have no trouble using different PCs and Bluray players on the HDMI ports. I just successfully flashed the 4.2.2 FINLESS 2.1 ROM but the behavior has not changed. I am ready to send it to re-cycling.

I've never had a problem with wifi on my MK808 but I've noticed that it doesn't work with AES encryption so you have to set your router to use tkip.
There is a tool in the settings that finless took out at one point to calibrate the display corners. This was later added back in, look for the tool if you need to adjust the overscan.
I don't know why you're having problems with apps... but the main ones should work for a media device like this... netflix, youtube, xbmc, browser.
I think with the keyboard, you might need to experiment a bit with different models to find one you like. I have one that I like a lot.

TKIP ? In settings, when i choose aes, it works, but ... casually =D
When i let it detect the encryption, in tkip, it detects wpa (it does not print tkip, but wpa is tkip mode)... it looks for ip adress, save it, but do not connect
When i had manually the ssid et password for tkip, it let wpa/wpa2 psk... but do not connect...
When i try to remove the detected ine by the manual, it don't mind...

          EDIT : Ah ! TKIP worked this time !! one time... but.... no internet access :/ 1 Mbps according to wifi settings = 1024 / 8 ko/s = 128 ko/s

with WPA2, and connectify on my portable computer, itself connected to the same initial wifi tkip, android connects well et detect 5Mbps for a shared connection...

tkip works perfectly on my 4.2 wiko android phone or on my portable computer, aes too...

wifi management really have troubles :/ it seems no app could change this, or ?

'main' apps works yes it's a good product for that price !

            MK808 - AES - TKIP

My MK808 works nicely with my 2 routers and WPA2-PSK -AES. TKIP is not recommended in that environment. Try using one of the WiFi analysis apps and try to configure your router to use a 40 Mhz clear channel away from other nearby signals.
