smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip for Next8P12- Android is upgrading Optimizing Application

    smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip for Next8P12- Android is upgrading Optimizing Application

    After I install this- smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip for Next8P12_NXM805MC.


    Is says-


    Android is upgrading Optimizing application 1 of 28 to 28 of 28 starting apllications every time the tablet is turned on.
    This is first time I see something like this. What type of upgrading and Optimizing is it doing ?


    How do I uninstall smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which was installed if I don't want it anymore ?


    That file is only if you want Google Play to work on the tablet, right ?

    What is it actualy doing ?
    It is a "feature" of Android. It is only supposed to happen the first reboot after new apps are installed, but there is a bug in Android 4.0.4 that causes it to happen on every reboot.

    Hopefully, we'll be able to update these soon.

    I'm currently working on a Cyanogenmod 10 ROM which is based on Android 4.1.2. Switching to it should fix this problem.

      Is it possible to upgrade this tablet to Jelly Bean O.S. ?

      Does it run faster with Jelly Bean ?

      I want tablet to use less ram memory, free it up so can use for other apps.
      I tried Ram booster before, seem to make it run smoother and faster.
      But are there any other app. which really helps ?

      Does rooting it actually help in making the tablet run faster ? Or need to use apps. which need rooting to do that ?

          Must be something in the smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip which I intalled causing this because why before installation of this file this Android updating and optimizing doesn't occur ?

            It happens if you install anything that did not come pre installed on the tablet. It happens even if you install apps from the online store. It happens on all phones and tablets with android 4.0.4 unless the bug has been patched.

              That is not true.
              I have installed apps. from 1mobile using 1Mobile Market app. on my tablet and it has never happened to me before. So I still think it has something to do with the zip file. Actually when I complained to Nextbook support why many apps. like Netflix I can't get from Jar Market. They recommended me to use 1mobile to
              download and install my files.

                You're better off than I am then... my Next8P12 runs the app optimization on every boot for every app I install, no matter where I install them from.

                It is supposed to happen just once on the first reboot after any new app is installed, but a bug in Android causes it to happen again for every app on every reboot.

                Lot's of other devices suffered the same problem with 4.0.3 and / or 4.0.4. I think it even affected some of the Samsung phones. A firmware / ROM update was required to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, there aren't any official updates for the Nextbook products, and there probably never will be. We're stuck waiting for a custom ROM to get us to 4.1 or higher.


                You can always flash the stock ROM to revert back factory settings without Google apps.

                    If you're rooted, you can manually uninstall all the pieces... I'd suggest flashing the stock ROM instead.

                      I am rooted, How do you uninstall manually all the pireces?
                      What were the pieces that was in the zip file ?

                      Is it only the Google Play Services and Google Play Store ?

                      Anything else ?

                        Open up the gapps .zip package and see what's in it... some of the files may have already been included in the stock ROM... can't promise you won't delete something needed by the system.

                        It would be easier to flash the stock ROM.

                          Please let me know when Cyanogenmod 10 ROM available for Nextbook8P12 .

                          Is there Cyanogenmod 10 ROM available for Samsung S3 ? If so, where could I download and instructions how to install it ?
                          Does work better then Jelly Bean version on it ?

                            There are many many ROMs available for the SGS3, including some Cyanogenmod based ones. Look over at forum.xda-developers.com for those.

                              It must be the signed signature that is causing this- "Android is upgrading Optimizing application"
                              Because after I rooted it and before I installed smt_gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip file was not doing this. Even if I had third party app. installed and apps. from Google Play sideloaded via usb or transfered Swift ftp. So am I stuck with this and no alternative to get rid of this ?
