701i Missing Volume Up/Down soft buttons on status bar

    Greeting all!

I have a strange problem on my 701i. I am not sure how it happened, but I rebooted my Tablet and I noticed that the Volume buttons are not gone! There is space for them, but no reaction to touching them. So no way to change the volume on the tablet in general.

Any ideas? I could get one of those apps that let you set the volume, but that is not solution since it is better to have the buttons right where they should be.

    Thanks in advance!

If you click on settings/sounds/volumes, you can adjust it, but that is kinda a pain, I know. You could probably find a volume widget in the Market.

Hey if you figure out how the soft keys disappeared, please let us know. I would love to have them gone.

I was just going to reflash from stock and say done! But I may just stick it out to figure out what exactly happened, unless some one else knows! I was thinking that it might be a file related.

        Anyone have any other ideas?

this has happened to me twice

          once when i changed wallpaper
and again when i changed launchers and set new default

I got it back when i reset launchers/ clearing the default setting

and clear data and force close system ui ( found in apps/ all apps )

then hit the power button to switch off the screen and power again or reboot

          all was back to normal

Thanks for the advice. I did try clearing the launcher data and force closing System UI. It did not work for me. However I did go browsing with ES File Manager and found that if I delete the folder
            /data/data/com.android.systemui/
Then immediately reboot, that did the trick! I now have all my soft keys back! Whoo hoo!

What I wish I did was save the folder to see what was in it and examine it further. Sorry about that!

            Thanks again!

Did you turn it on and of or you pressed the reset button on the back?
