    MK809ii Bricked following Erase NAND

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post so apologies for any noobness!

I have a MK809ii which was frequently freezing and crashing so I decided to try an alternative ROM. I felt comfortable doing this having played with Android phones for a while.

I used the Finless ROM flash tool to attempt to flash Finless 1.7a. I managed to install the drivers and get my PC to see the device however after running the Erase Nand option the device is no longer detected by my PC (win7).

I am desperate to get this up and running and have been reading other forums however none seem to have the same hardware internally as the one I have!

I have attached a couple of pics of the inside and any tips would be HUGELY appreciated.

The 1.7a isn't for the MK908ii. You want the 1.5a for MK908ii. It's one of the stickied posts.

I'm new to Android mini pc's so can't offer much help I'm afraid. So is the rockchip flash tool stating device not found whereas before you erased the nand it was saying device found? Did the nand erase complete successfully? Have you tried the alternative flash tool? (it's in one of the folders that came with the rom.

Aside from that you could try a different USB cable, different use port. Have you looked in device manager and is there anything there at all?

If none of that works hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chip in and help.

Those pictures look NOTHING like the inside of my MK908-ii

          Further info

          Hi,

Thanks so much for your response. I will try the 1.5a rom and get back to you.

I managed to get the tool to see the device after installing the rockchip drivers. The nand erase completed successfully, I then went onto flash the 1.7a rom (now I know this is not correct). This failed therefore I tried the nand erase again which threw an error (not captured). I have not yet been able to get my PC to see the device.

I did use the alternative flash tool which managed to get the device into flash mode.

I have also tried 5 different cables and all available USB ports. Device manager is not showing any problematic devices or valid rockchip devices.

From reading other posts I feel the next step is to force the device into an alternative flash mode by shorting some pins however I am unsure which.

Thanks again everyone for your assistance with this.

No problem Rick. Before you go ahead with shorting pins and any subsequent flashing, make sure which stick you have as Legitsu said it's not a MK908ii.

              Update

              Thanks again

The board states that this is a Netxeon MK806 v30!! This is very confusing! :-)

The Rockchip chip states that this is an RK3066 model.

              Cheers

                Success!!

                Hi Guys,

Finally managed to get back on track. Rather than shorting specific pins I found out that there were 2 small points next to the chip that can be shorted out and hey presto my device was recognised in the Rockchip Batch Tool.

I have now successfully flashed using rk3066_T005_Launcher2_public_20121215.img which is a stock image I found however am not in a position to fire this up connected to a TV to investigate whether this is working correctly. Will do this later and confirm.

Are you able to confirm the best ROM for me to flash now that I seem to have things up and running. I have read several threads and opinions seem to vary quite a bit! Would finless 1.5a be the best solution?

                Thanks again.

the finless roms are FOR a RK3188 based device you have the older-slower RK3066
                  try here

depending on the device you may need to extract the kernel.img from the stockrom but finless 1.7A FOR THE rk3066 should work

                    Hi Guys,

Thank you SOOO much for your support on this. I have now managed to flash Finless 1.7a and the device is performing much better! I haven' been able to do a full test yet but I did fire up Netflix and the sound appears to be missing! I get system sounds (notifications and clicks) however the sound is not playing from Netflix?! This could be a setting that I have missed but thought I would flag to see if this was a known problem.

                    Thanks again!

Glad to hear you got it sorted. When I first installed Netflix I had no sound either despite system sounds working. I clicked on the increase volume button in the system bar and it worked. No idea why but it's worth a shot.
