    MK809II - Flashing Issue

    Hi

    Another noob question. Sorry!

I have a Netxeon MK806 V30 board which I am trying to improve.

Have worked out how to connect to PC via mini USB and get it to be recognised in Windows 7.

Using Finless v1.35 Rom Flash Tool, it finds the device but when I click Flash ROM it hangs on "Start to download IDB".

I have read I should erase IDB first but, of course, I should back it up first also.

adb devices states no device attached although I am sure I have added the 0x2207 in the usb_win.ini file. Will check again.

Can someone please give me a quick pointer to which tools I should be using to back up and which bootloader?

I searched forum and internet using "Start to download IDB" and it seems no-one has written about the same issue which I find hard to believe.

    Please help.

    EDIT:-

I have Reboot to Flash Mode and it states device cannot reboot to flash mode as it is not an msc device?

Also, tried the alternate flash tool but not at all clear on what I should be doing with that one!

For the avoidance of doubt, I do not have the device plugged via HDMI as I do not understand why that would be necessary.

I have now just plugged it back in and am getting NO SIGNAL so this could now be bricked.

When connecting to PC, I pressed a button on the board and it was immediately recognised by PC. When flashing should I also have a power plugged in the back port too?

I don't have that device... but from what I've read you would use a method similar to what I had to on my fake MK808b...

    Start the Flash Rom Toolkit
Push the flash button on the device and hold it
While holding the button down, plug into your computer with the USB cable
Let the drivers load if they haven't yet...

This puts the device into Mask mode.... follow the rest of the directions as you read ...

    ie... erase IDB and flash

As for backing up before you do those steps... I'll have to let someone else answer that one. On mine, I had found the original ROM and downloaded it for my backup. In all cases... you will still need to backup any pics or music etc you may have... I just used the external SD card for that and removed it before I flashed.

      Many thanks for that.

I think I have done enough damage for one day!

Cannot Erase IDB and when I cannot to TV now it states NO SIGNAL.

I think, having read the forum for the last few hours, that my next and only remaining option is to erase NAND flash by shorting Hynix chip.

Can someone please confirm that this is my only option?

This forum is an excellent resource. I feel like I am learning quite a lot even though I have not got anywhere tonight.

"Rome wasn't built in a day" as they say!

I have no idea what has happened but I shorted two pins but did not plug in power so this surely could not have erased IDB.

Anyway, now flashed and will test soon. Post update Saturday.

Ok.. I don't think you are suppose to short the memory chip if shorting something is what you need to do... I believe its one of the other chipset chips instead.
