    mk802iv problem.

I've searched, read, downloaded a lot of programs but I have been unable to fix a stupid mistake I made earlier which was flashing the wrong firmware on my MK802iv. As a result the WiFI and Bluetooth switches off immediately after switching on regardless of what ROM I install. I've tried to flash stock and other ROM's but the same problem with WiFi and Bluetooth remain.

I can not get RKAndroidTool to run and I can not set up a custom recovery. I'm really struggling to find a way to flash a custom kernel but I don't think that will fix the problem. I suspect that if I could get into a custom recovery and Fix Permission this could alleviate the issue. I'm running out of ideas and can not find a solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What do you mean by you can't get rkandroidtool to run?
The program don't run? Or it doesn't detect your stick?

Can you get the stick in flash mode with the reset button at all?

Wrong kernel can be a problem..so if you get the rkandroidtool working then you got a lot more option to restore it.

Your android stick doesn't reboot for some reason; I can't say why.
Try these solutions, the problem might be somewhere around here:

        1. Use another USB-cable.
        2. Reinstall RKAndroid drivers. (The newest ones are V. 1.7)
        3. Be sure to use the OTG-port.
        4. Be sure NOT to have any USB cable connected to the power-port.
        5. Don't connect the stick to any HDMI

If it persists, your Android-stick might be broken. Try another PC before you ditch it.

          6. Run in administrator modus.
          7. Try to erase IDB first and then flash.
          8. Be sure (what MKMutual already said) that there is nothing in the USB ports and no SD card.

Ok, I managed to get the drivers and install them and get RKAndroidTools working. I've got the stock ROM installed on there but it still won't allow me to leave WiFi or BlueTooth on. It just switches itself off.

Edit: What is the best way to flash a custom kernel to get this working again?

Could it be down to the ROMs I'm flashing?

              It has serial number 2013101087

I'm completely baffled. I've got a mk809III ROM loaded and WiFi works

It says MK802IV on the packaging!?

The same hardware is called so many different things it's hard to distinguish from - MK802IV is the same as MK809III. Every device with a RK3188 CPU is the SAME DEVICE! The only difference is the amount of RAM and wifi chip (and the price of course).

China hasn't made it easy for us, but look through the device name and focus on the CPU instead. In this case RK3188 - all roms for RK3188 wil run on your device. The second thing you should focus on is your WiFi chip. AP6210 seems to be the most popular right now, but you have to open your device and find out for yourself.

I know... confusing (especially for retailers as myself), but that's what we have to work with.

I think the chinese just put anything they have lying around the factory into theses sticks there is no consistency..two sticks built on the same day at the same factory might have compleatly diferent internals in them

                        Thanks for the replies.

This device is so temperamental. It sometimes works with RKAndroidTool and sometimes doesn't. In that I mean it doesn't follow the reset and throws up "Error: Wait for Loader Rock USB timeout".

My device doesn't reset quickly enough.

This is because you don't erase IDB first. ALWAYS do that, otherwise you will get problems like that.
