Pipo M9 pro 3g vpn problem

    Hi all
I wanted to download a vpn app and use it while browsing anonymously. None of the vpn apps for android worked ob my tablet, even the ones which i ve been using in my phone for a long time. But when i enter the vpn ip and other settings from the android menu "settings-vpn" all ok. Just doesnt work with the apps.,although u select " i trust this app" box before the app runs
So is there any settings that i need to do abt this? Any help will be much appreciated

Sorry, I can´t help you, expect to say I have exactly the same problem on my new Pipo M9 Pro WiFi. Hopefully, the fact that there are at least two of us, may spark a serious attempt by someone to solve the problem.

          OpenVPN

          Hi All,
I have been trying to get VPN's working as well for a long time. Standard pptp works fine in ALL versions of both Randy's and Bob's and Pipo's firmware.
However, OpenVPN requires a module file in the kernel called Tun.ko This can be added using an app called tun.ko installer that you can get from the market - Here in China I need a vpn running for this app to find the module on the net!

Finless1.5 crashes (on my tablet)when trying this method.

RR2.7.2 has the module and works - so does the latest KK from Pipo - older versions of RR worked with
the module loaded from the app, but you need to reload after each reboot which is a pain.
KKMod R4 does not have the module loaded but works fine loading with the app.

I have also used vyprvpn which uses an app that worked fine in both JB and KK latest versions from Pipo and Randy with no additional work.

I hope this helps others who are having problems with their VPN - for those that need it it is vital, for those that don't they have no idea what we are complaining about!! I buy my service from vpngates.com as here in China free vpn's tend to be blocked by the government .

          Cheers, Colin.

Djinn, have you found any supporting statement from an official Android source about this? I would like some kind of link to forward to my VPN supplier.

              information

Hi ALL on this short thread. You need to provide the forum with specific information in order to get a response from the forum. The initial post and the one declaring that vpn does not work for Android 4 tells us NOTHING. What country you are in makes a MASSIVE difference to how VPN's work - trust me, I know from bitter experience and I am in China. I am sure there are others who could help - I am willing to help, but without you even telling us which apps don't work there is nothing we can do. Please bear this in mind when posting both requests and declarations. You should try the native pptp vpn first - BUT pptp MAY be blocked in your country. I use it as I have said - with VPNGates. com, BUT I need to turn OFF encryption to make it work - different vpn providors have different ways of working so you need to bear this in mind.
              Thanks,
              Colin.

                Colin,
In my case - and, as I understand it, also in Djinn´s - it is not a question of VPN working or not. VPN works very fine for me, both when I am in my country Sweden and when I am abroad. The problem is that the app supplied by the VPN supplier to set up the connection doesn´t do the job. You have to set it up manually directly in the Android menu settings. It is possible that this depends on how the app is made and hence on who supplied it, but it seems Djinn and I use different VPN suppliers. The supplier I use is PureVPN. In his last post Djinn says it depends on Android 4, not on the app. I would like to see supporting evidence of that

This is mostly a matter of convenience. To activate VPN manually is not a big thing, once the initial setting is done. It is when you want to change to another server in a different country it is getting a bit awkward. The worst problem is that of curiosity. Why the heck doesn´it work?

                  vpn

OK, thanks for the explanation. Like you say, you need to address your problems with the service providers you are using. In fact I did a trial with vyprvpn and their app switched severs very well ...however, their servers were also being very effectively blocked by the Chinese government, and so i stay with vpngates who have separate openvpn configurations for each of their servers. Once set up it is easy to use and simple to switch.
                  Rgds,
                  Colin.
