Suggested upgrade path for UG007 with stock 4.1.1 ROM

Hi folks, I'm an experienced linux user/developer, but new to Android and TV sticks. I have a UUG007 running stock ROM. I'd like to install an upgrade, hopefully rooted. I thought a good place to start would be some of the earlier Finless ROMS, but the links to 1.5 and 1.7 seem to be broken.

One complication is that I don't have any WIndows system, so I'd prefer to install using sdcard. Should I install CWM recovery? If so, how?

    Thanks.

hey, too bad that all the links are broken...

      i could reupload:
      mk808_finless16.zip
      MK808 Hybryd FW V2.0.0 1080p.rar
      ug802_2dark_finless_rom17.zip
      imito_mx1_finless_1_5.zip

rk3066_UG007_Launcher2_public_TF_Card_update.rar (from dragon devs, its the rom i still use)
fenghuang_v04.zip (or maybe i use that... not sure anymore.. there is some root indicator in my folder tree)

the ug007 works for more than 250 days non-stop, i love it...
currently i think about upgrading, ugoos ut3 should be next level and ill wait for it.

i dont know if i remember right but i think you can use mk808 and/or mx1 roms too, ill investigate since the mk808 recently got ac3 hdmi passthrou and i really need that.. look up my post for more info about the ug007

      here is info about cwm:

The best for me has been the official Ugoos 4.2.2 ROM. It's been the most smooth & stable build for me.
