    Bricked QX1: downgrading loader

    Hi,
I've flashed Tronsmart's Android 4.4 beta firmare on my Imito QX1.
Now I'd like to go back to a 4.2 ROM because wifi and bt isn't working.

Unfortunately the 4.4 firmware upgraded the loader to version 2.08.
I am not able to flash ROMs which using 1.24 loader version (no found RKAndroid rock usb).
Flashing procedure of 4.2 ROMs (e.g. Finless ROM 1.5) with loader 2.08 is shown as successful in flash tool. However I don't get HDMI output then. I guess loader 2.08 isn't working with older 4.2 ROMs, is it?

I've found a thread in Minix section. There, in the linked forum, they describing restoring successfully the firmware of Minix X7 by keeping pressed the power button during flashing procedure.
Unfortunately the QX1 don't has a power button.

I am able to bring the QX1 in "MaskRom Rock USB" mode by shorting two pins of the NAND Chip.
Any idea on how to flash Android 4.2 ROMs on my QX1?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regard
    Rnd

    Edit:

    Solution:
Don't use Windows 8.1. Old bootloader doesn't work under Windows 8.1.
    Then this prodecure works:
    1) Run the flash tool on the 4.4.2 ROM (KitKat)
    2) Erase NAND.
    3) Close the KitKat Flash Tool and now run the Flash Tool from the 4.2.2 (Jellybean) or 4.1 whatever ROM.
    4) DO NOT erase NAND again. Just flash.

I have exactly the same problem as you with my Tronsmart MK908 device. After trying several alternative flashing, erasing nand, diff cables, diff usb, diff computer, install uninstall drivers, diff ROM.s etc.... ad infinitum I have been unsuccessful to downgrade the rom and bootloader to 4.2.2.

The only Rom I can now flash is this unfinished Kit Kat beta V3 from tronsmart/geekbuying.

I found this post by Riley ''rrileypm Thread: Important: Switching back to Jellybean from KitKat (for the Pipo U8 I know) I tried it and it didn't work for me

    Quote rileypm
So, here are the steps necessary to prevent you from bricking your tablet when going back to Jellybean from KitKat:

    1) Run the flash tool on the 4.4.2 ROM (KitKat)
    2) Erase NAND.
    3) Close the KitKat Flash Tool and now run the Flash Tool from the 4.2.2 (Jellybean) or 4.1 whatever ROM.
    4) DO NOT erase NAND again. Just flash.
    Endquote

Maybe it could work for you?

I would be interested if you find a fix and your method.

      Re: Bricked QX1: downgrading loader

If the stick is properly detected by pc, follow trying, I got my X7 bricked, and I remember that after some tries I unbricked it flashing without erase nand only the bootloader of the stock firmware, and after using restore option I flashed the stock Rom using RKbatchtool 1.7, then I use rkdeveloper tool 1.37 to flash my choosed custom.

        Hi,

thanks for your replies. Unfortunately no luck so far.

I downloaded "ap620_kitkat_finless20_beta2" (Android 4.4) and flashed successfully the ROM with the included Flash Tool v1.37. After that, I erased NAND in the same flash tool.
Then I opened the flash tool from "imito_qx1_422_finless15" and clicked "Flash ROM" without erasing NAND first. That didn't work:

I tried the same in USB mask mode without success.
I also tried to only flash the bootloader of the stock ROM without erasing the NAND - didn't work too ..

Please try the same, but when you flash the 4.2 select only the bootloader to be flashed.
          -Erase nand
          -Flash the 4.4 Rom
          -Cose the flash tool
-Now flash only bootloader of 4.2 Rom without erase nand.
          -Close the flash tool
          -now flash the 4.2 Rom.

Please try the same, but when you flash the 4.2 select only the bootloader to be flashed.
            -Erase nand
            -Flash the 4.4 Rom
            -Close the flash tool
-Now flash only bootloader of 4.2 Rom without erase nand. <---- fails
            -Close the flash tool
            -now flash the 4.2 Rom.
It fails at the step where flashing the bootloader without erasing NAND. There, the stick is being disconnected and doesn't come back in flash mode. It isn't recognized by Windows after.

I think I have installed the rockchip drivers properly on my Windows 8.1.
However, I am going to set up a Win XP System and try it there

Windows 8.1 is not a good idea, now I know where is the problem, the new bootloaders 2.07 and 2.08 works from 8.1 the old bootloaders can't
When you tried from xp or windows7 for sure it will work.
From Linux with a xp virtualbox machine you can flash too, but from Windows 8.1 the virtual machine will not work too.
