Slow network speeds with Minix Neo X7 (wired and wifi)

hello all, I just received my Neo X7 this past week and I played with it on the week-end and after updating to the 008 FW, i hooked it up to my TV and it found the 009 OTA update...however, on wifi it said it would take over 64 hours to download the ~330MB file...and the speeds would drop to zero and then back to 14 and 15, and continue like that...so, I powered it down, ran a CAT5e cable from my ASUS RT-N16 router to the Neo X7 and fired it back up, it found the OTA update, and said the samething...this was with the external antenna unplugged, to avoid any possible conflicts.

I am just wondering if anyone has noticed this issue before? what could be the cause? I used the same network cable to my desktop PC and downloaded the same file manually, to update the Neo X7 manually to 009, and it completed in no time.

I'm wondering if my 008 update somehow got corrupted? or if there is some settings that is not right...I'm not sure, but my Hisense Sero 7 Pro tablet, my ipod touches and BBZ10, my wifes Q10 all are working just fine on the wifi, no slow speeds to speak of. I'm trying to make sure that I list as much detail about my set up as possible, to make possible help easier.

    TIA,
    A50SNAKE

The slow OTA upgrade is a known issue, probably to the lousy OTA servers. Already discussed here: http://minixforums.com/threads/neo-x...jan-2014.3898/

Otherwise try various speedtests or network performance test you will find all over the internet to check if you really have a problem: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=speedtest

ok thank you for your reply. I did read over that OTA post, but I'll be honest, not every page fully, so I guess I missed in there where it said that was a known problem, sorry about that.

I will test out some speed tests on my X7 and see what they show.

      thanks,

If I remember correctly 10 Mbps is 1MBps.

Term wise, Bits are used to measure transfer speed, bytes are used to measure storage.

You download with bits, you store with bytes, again only Term wise.

And no, 1 byte equals 8 bits.

MegaBytes not bytes. MBps is MegaBytes per second and Mbps is Mega bits per second. Many download apps will give it in either kilo or mega bytes as well, Mr Anal Retentive. IE. Internet Speed Meter. So, if you see your transfer speed as 1 or 2 MBps in reality you are getting 10 or 20 Mbps.
