Can Anyone Help Diagnose this Log Pulled During a Netflix Crash on my 701C?

So I’m VERY new to Android and will be the first to admit I don’t really know what I’m doing.
In an effort to figure out why my tablet sometimes randomly reboots (although it has been much better lately) and possibly to better diagnose WTF is going on with Netflix I decided to try to get some sort of log out of my 701C.

I installed Android SDK and executed the logcat command from my PC via ADB Shell.
Since my tablet magically refuses to pull it’s spontaneous reboot trick when I’m ready and waiting for it I decided to switch my focus to seeing if I could get a log of what's going on when Netflix acts up. I knew I could recreate issues my there because it NEVER cooperates for me with this setup.

Just a little background. I’m running a pretty recent flash of Polaroid’s official ICS upgrade ROM for the 701C. I have the Liquid Limez Market Fix applied. Other than that I have Link2SD installed with my external micro sd card setup to link apps to external SD but I have NOT actually linked any yet because I’m still troubleshooting ocassional random reboots. Other than these I have Amazon appstore installed with about 10 or so random apps installed.

    Symptoms I had playing Netflix:

I brought up logcat, started Netflix and began playing Family Guy Season 8 episode 7 “Jerome is the New Black” (It never plays correctly for me on my 701c)

Almost instantly the audio becomes very choppy cutting in and out with an audible “pop” from the speaker each time. It’s almost like someone is rapidly pausing and then unpausing the video. Sometimes the video will be choppy along with it..this time it was not. Sometimes audio and video will be out of sync but they were not this time.

Just the choppy audio with sound popping in and out. This was pretty much right in time with the following lines in logcat:

“VideoDec_Component( 2694): vdec touch cpu freq
D/VideoDec_Component( 2694): vdec touch cpu freq
    D/AudioDec_Component( 2694): touch cpu freq
    D/CDX_Player( 2694): OMX_EventControl Play/Pause:1
    D/CDX_Player( 2694): OMX_EventControl Play/Pause:0
    W/AudioRender_Component( 2694): audio start pts skew: 124388000us”

I’m guessing it’s the “Play/Pause actually pausing the audio feed and then unpausing it? Sure sounds like it.

Suddenly a few minutes into the video it just FROZE HARD and the tablet locked up and did nothing until I gave up and pulled the usb cable. Then I could hit return to back out of Netflix and the tablet was fine..the video never did start playing again though.

It’s obvious from glancing at the log when the video froze but just to be sure it’s right around
“D/VideoDec_Component( 2694): vdec touch cpu freq
    F/libc ( 2694): Fatal signal 7 (SIGBUS) at 0x00000000 (code=128)
    I/DEBUG ( 2696): *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *
    **”

I have similar Netflix symptoms on many Netflix videos (but not all). This happens on this particular video whether or not I have the marketfix script installed.

FYI: I know the source video is good because it plays just fine on Xbox 360, Wii, Laptop and my PC.

I know others on here are WAAAAAY more experienced and knowledgeable than I am. Anyone care to offer their evaluation/opinion? It probably doesn't tell you much but it might be a way to point me in the right direction?

Here's more of the log if it helps:

    Video on Crackle Runs Fine

So just for S's and Giggles I decided to take a look at logcat while running Crackle. Crackle plays video perfectly fine.

I don't know much, but when of the things I noticed immediately in the log is I don't constantly see the
"vdec touch cpu freq" line when viewing video on Crackle.
It shows up at the beginning and that's about it. Admittedly I have no real idea what vdec touch cpu freq is..but I thought I'd share.

I've attached the log I pulled via ADB Shell while my tablet was running Crackle video just fine:
    CLICK HERE --->Crackle-runs-fine.txt

I know Crackle and Netflix are very different beasts but I was curious why Crackle runs and Netflix hates me. The Crackle log might not help, but I suppose it can't hurt!

DLNA hs been implicated on other platforms

I saw those message streams pop up on other streaming content that relates to a DLNA use. Will continue to research, but thought I would mention that one.

        1 1/2 cents

I think that dlna is a subset of drm or digital rights management. It's possible that the pmids are not recognised as a supported device and either the app or the servers are borking this up.

I don't have Netflix but have you tried to watch directly from the website? The stock browser may not work for this but since switching to dolphin I have yet to see a "you don't have permission " message.

Or you could try the latest updates in the hope that the pmids may be supported. Someday.

I guess they really don't want any device or program intercepting the stream and copying it.
theoretically, a pmid could send the stream thru the tv out to a recorder, but this is very low resolution!

        Their paranoia exceeds common sense.
lets find a link for the apps developers and have at em.

Well I think DLNA is mainly supposed to be a way of promoting cross-platform compatability and interoperability etc to make it easier for people to share and use media across a wide variety of devices.

That being said with Sony being behind it I'm sure there is also a DRM or anti-piracy side to the coin.

It's sort of odd that some videos play well and some (MANY) just won't cooperate at all. I guess maybe how well a particular video is protected is up to the company and not so much Netflix.

Who knows if DLNA is truly the cause of my problems. Others have reported their tablets stream everything just fine. Despite asking a couple times I've yet to get anyone to stream some of the some videos on their tablet and see if they have the same issues. I'd love to know whether it's JUST me or whether these same videos cause problems on other Polaroid tablets.

I did try viewing directly from the stock browser but never tried when I had Dolphin installed. Of course when I tried with the stock browser it gave me some message about the minimum hardware specs a laptop/pc should have to view Netflix and wouldn't let me view anything. I guess I just assumed it wasn't going to let me with another browser either.
