Extract wireless drivers from a ROM

    Hi everyone

There are no custom ROMS that work 100% with my device. I've found a number of good combinations but all of them remove wireless

Is there an easy way to extract the wireless drivers from my stock ROM and inject them into another ROM?

    Thanks

Sorry but not, a part of the wireless driver is inside kernel, so if you insert your wireless module (.ko) it will not work alone
You must use your stock kernel your stock wireless (.ko) module. And cross fingers about the Rom framework can run them

      Thanks for the reply

I'm pretty good with Linux and know how to extract images and mount the filesystem inside. Is there a very basic HOWTO I could follow to extract and rebuild my own custom ROM?

      Thanks again

You need to know what wireless module you have and what GPIOs it uses. With that you can then build (or ask one of us to) a custom kernel.
Measy U4B (=Tronsmart T428) used by my kids!
        Onda v975m - M802 - Bought from Banggood.com
        Pipo M8HD 3G - RK3188 - don't buy from pipo-store

          Thanks d33

I have a dmesg and gpio.out if that helps?

I also received a HowTo from leolas, which I'm going to attempt

The firmware combination that works best on my box is the HFW 3.2 with kernel-1080p-ut1.img from Wasser's 1.2.4 release. Just no wireless

Ok, so I made a Frankenstein ROM using the app and framework folder from lewy20041's Hybrid 2.0.4 firmware
            And it works!!!

Only thing still not working is remote repeat. Does anyone know what I need to extract from the Hybrid firmware to enable key press repeat on my IR remote?

            Thanks very much

Sure, but this is only for the "RK3188_Box_V2.0" board

I'm busy sorting out a few post installation problems and will upload a working firmware soon. The only real benefit compared to stock firmware is the ability to autohide system bar
