    ap6210 mk908 wifi speed.

Yesterday I tried to look through Fullhd ip-tv via standard wi-fi on my mk908v3. The picture was terrible, so I decided to buy another router and set it as switch+repeater. But after some searching I found in nvram_AP6210 that AP6210 is built on bcm40181, wich is built on old bcm4329. Datasheet is aviable here: http://www.datasheetarchive.com/dl/D...AUD0057851.pdf
    As I can understand
Data Rate: 802.11n: Up to MCS7
max data rate is 72Mb/s (if we have SGI enabled, otherwise 65Mb/s), of course half-duplex. If I'm right we can't get enough rate for FULLHD streaming in any case.
Do I understand correctly that the closer the router will not change anything?

    sorry for google translate

You will never go more then 65mbps. Even ap6330 not going more than 65mbps. Maybe board restriction. I can watch 1080p from my NAS with dlna, for 720p I can watch them using smb. I have an ac1750 and still 65mbps, don't waist money on router.
T428 ,Radxa Rock (RR), cs918s v1.0, waiting for my X7...

Another way is to buy ethernet-to-usb or usb-wifi at least 150N (2x1 without 40mgz), but i'm not sure that modules for external adapter included with finless 1.7 are working.

65mbps in my acer a210 is working fine and there is no artefacts on FULLHD streaming, so I think mk908 has weak antenna, or it is too far from router.

After a lot of comiling different kernels and modules I get to work tl-wn822n rev3 based on realtek 8192cu. FULLHD streaming still doesn't work, but i can watch FULLHD from NAS almost without any lags.
        I tested wifi adapters:
rk901-bcm4329: "low" signal (1 bar), iperf 18.0 Mbits/sec, scan can see only two hotspots, link up to 65mb/s
8192cu: always "high" (5 bars), iperf 82.3 Mbits/sec, scan can see up to 16 hotspots, link 300up & 300down (I can control it via openwrt).
        BUT(!)
I can't correctly rebuild kernel because there is no kernel source for v3, so kernel bootloop. Until we can get sources we can't use external wifi instead built-in, device will try to load /system/etc/firmware/fw_bcm4329.bin, rfkill doesnt work and wpa_supplicant crashes every time we change wifi settings. If tronsmart release patch for v3 support we can use module, or if we get full sdk with v3 support we can merge it with realtek driver sdk and completly change wifi adapter to external. I hope it will be so

Ok, it is done. I get external wifi working on boot via ramdisk init.rc in boot.img.
Here is my kernel module for 8192cu.ko 3.0.36+ kernel compiled from latest official realtek source (v4.0.2_9000.20130911).
          Using:
unzip, mount /system rw, copy to /system/lib/modules, chmod 644. Load with disabled wifi from console after each reboot OR add insmod line into boot.img init.rc (it can be done from windows, no need to install linux&toolchain).
WIFI management work from settings apps, but sometimes wpa_supplicant crashes, as I can see in logcat, so sometimes it doesn't work.
PS: init.d in Finless 1.7 doesn't work at all, so without re-flashing boot.img USB-WIFI cannot be enabled for each boot.

            1080p mk908 via external wifi

I found solution for poor performance of video decoding. After some test last rom was able to open 1080p streaming & 1080p from NAS is 106j2107, overclocked to 1800cpu 798gpu 720ram. I can get smoothly playback only with standart video player, or with bsplayer via system codec. 1080p available only on external wifi, built-in is not enough fast.

              Hi,

could you send the link of concrete product(s) with 8192cu chipset? Which adapter do you use?

              Thanks,
              Laszlo

I have been trying for weeks now, without any luck

                        MK908 v3 model

                        Device : Belkin f7d2102 and another dongle f7d2102de (rt8192cu.ko)

Rom : Finless 1.7 and Stock rom

I copy the 8192cu.ko, make the required permissions, and i can see the module is loaded

Not apple to activate external wifi at all, almost crying

Cant see any wireless networks, and i have tryed every insmod combinations i can think off.

Please please, tell what im doing wrong

                          You need:
                          Disable built-in wifi
                          Load module via insmod
                          Plug in yours external dongle
print "iwconfig" in terminal, there must be only Realtek as wlan0
                          Turn wifi on from settings

If it wouldnt work please upload your dmesg & logcat:
                          su
                          dmesg >>/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt
                          logcat /d >>/mnt/sdcard/logcat.txt
