    VLC player and windowsdriver

    Hi all,

I am a real new bee in this world of minix Neo 7

I have some questions, I hope some one can help me out.

    First :

I installed VLC player. Why?...I was told it plays almost all formats.
Is it somehow possible to set VLC as default? Sometimes when I want to see a movie, the standard player is not able to play the movie correctly...my screen on TV is blurry. Or do you have better suggestions.?

    Second:
Is there a windows driver which I can use when I connect the Minix to the pc. Now my pc does not reognize the Minix? I am using W-7 64bit.

    Like I said...I am a new bee.

    Hello Barry,

to use all features of the minix x7 its the first good way to install a new CustomROM (modified operating system). You can download it at my blog http://www.minix7.wordpress.com under downloads or support.

With this package comes also a windows driver. I'm using also win7 64bit and it works perfect. If you know which port of your pc is usb2.0 use this please. You can find it out if you connect a device with usb3-support and the information is shown" this device can used with a higher speed...". After the driver-installation read the instruction for the ROM-Installation. Don't panic! Its simple. Install the operating system. The reboot of the minix take some minutes.

You can read this in the instruction (within the zip-file) or at my blog under Support > CustomROM.

Under Downloads you'll find some apps i have installed. From the Google PlayStore you can download the "MX Player" and the "MX Player Codecs" for free. It plays all formats incl. mp3-musicfiles.

To have no trouble with ads at your system download ADAway (my blog). This app wants root and the ads go away from you installed apps. ;-)

If i can answer other questions, write me a mail or write it here.

    Greetings,
    Robert

        Hi Robert,

I wanted to download your customrom...but it said that the site was under construction.

I assume that this is temporary?

And the apps...I suposse I just have to drag them into the program dir.

If you have some apps with settings you can store them before with a app like Titanium Backup Pro (without root-rights). I have a copy of this tool in download-folder under systemapps.

After your apps+settings stored with Titanium Backup and after the new installation of the minix os (the RoDiSte Rom) you can install Titanium Backup (with root-rights) again and reinstall the safed apps with settings.

              thanks again....dl-link worked
Gonna take a look at it...

Now that I am getting used and knowing more of the NEO is working fine with the default settings.
