    My EKB311B is bricked.
    Can't erase IDB Failed
Can't use RKBatchTool v1.7 or RKAndroidTool v1.37, both apps just hang and nothing happens.

Anyone know how to enter mask rom mode to try to repair it?

I had a similar problem after trying the Kitkat kernels. Unplug everything and try another USB port and cable

Got it flashing again by using a paperclip on every nand pin until it entered mask rom mode.
Has a Toshiba Nand chip, different than all the other maskrom tutorials that are for other nand chips.

Trying by "jumping" from pin-pair to pin-pair during power on till Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7's green block will turn to blue ???

                  Sweet!

Question: is there a way to fix slow NANDS? I've got another unit and noticed that it's MUCH slower when writing an image. It also takes longer to boot, and almost stutters when launching apps

Reflashing different firmwares has the same affect, almost like the NAND is bad

                  Thanks

                    Here is a short tutorial:
You need it powered by the ac power adapter and connected with the OTG port to your PC.
You should not hold the reset button underneath the box or press the power button, the light should stay red.
I also have a Toshiba nand chip and the right pins were on the left side, somewhere from the bottom with the 'Toshiba' name readable not upside down. It's very difficult to see the pins, a magnifying glass can help.
Bend the tip of a paperclip(so it's almost like an 'L') and press it down between two pins and then connect the power adapter and then a blue square will show up in Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7 instead of a green square when you hold the reset button.

Maybe flashing again from Maskrom will help with bad nand?
You can only flash about 5-10 times then the nand starts to give problems from my experience so far and reported by other users that start to get boot issues, freezes, restarts and no signal issues.

Also Pimp my Rom app from playstore can increase SD-Card and other chips, software write speed.
Won't make a big difference but it can help.
The smaller the image the faster it will write. If it's an old nand chip, it will be slower then newer hardware and won't be able work as fast as it's hardware limited.
The slow boot and stuttering is most likely an old kernel and old(not updated by the manufacturer) system files in the firmware.

                        Some bad news for EKB311(B)
The manufacturer(ENY) said the device is discontinued and they won't be supplying it anymore.
They also said there would be no firmware updates now or ever.
So we can forget about Android KitKat with MT7601 wifi.
They just forget about their devices and customers and recommend everyone to get newer devices like EM8 and pay again. Really sad

I will try to release some improved firmware for the device but can't do much as the stock rom is not very good.

does it mean, at beginning only connected to the device but not plugged into power point

Mask rom can be entered by connecting pin 8-9 on the chip and plug in yhe power plug( some on 7 and 8 ) google it.. there is some info on it.

MASK mode fixed my bad (slow) NAND. Box is reading and writing normally again
