    New to X7 Few Problems

Just been trying to set up my X7 today, I'm fairly new to this device but have been running XBMC on a linux machine for quite some time. I have installed the Finless 1.8 ROM with 720 Kernel and I'm experiencing a few issues.

1st issue is that the screen keeps flashing up with a black screen for about a second every 30 seconds or so. This happens during movie playback in XBMC or just on the menu screen of the X7. Its not a stutter because while the black screen is on during a movie sound is still played with no interruption. Any ideas what this could be?

Secondly HD video playback is very gittery, I can play a 2gb 720 movie file and this seems ok, but a 4gb 1080 movie is really stuttery, same for Live TV streaming from my linux box via Tvheadend. A SD channel is fine but if I try a HD channel it buffers for ages then stutters really bad. This is using a wired lan also. Any ideas what the cause of this may be?

    All advice much appreciated

    Thanks Steve

Try some of the other ROM's to see if you can address the issue with the flashing screeen... It's thought that it happens on certain TV's with how they sync to the signal... The Finless ROM's are notably good ones... but the others are also good as well so it's just a matter of finding which one suits your own needs more than which one is better...

You can't use a streamed video as a way to test... that relies too much on your own network and internet connection to be a reliable method. For testing... use a file that is local to the device. Example... buffering issue is always network related... either the server on the other end is slow to send the info or there is a bottleneck between you and the server to blame...

It appears the stuttering is a problem with XBMC, I just played the video over wifi network using the standard video player in the android os and it played perfectly, try it again in xbmc and its stuttering. Any ideas why XBMC is behaving like this?

      thanks Steve

        Which XBMC are you using?

The current XBMC Frodo 12.x release doesn't use hardware acceleration... but Minix XBMC and the one I prefer, Beyond XBMC do have it enabled... When the next version ( Gotham ) is release, it will also come with it enabled.

            Thanks for the heads-up,

            Was on the STD XBMC

Now installed Beyond XBMC and working perfectly.

Now just need to sort this annoying black flash on the screen

Does this still occur with the Wasser kitkat Rom does anyone know?

Well I'm going round in circles here, Just installed the Wasser Kitkat rom and all flashes and screen disturbances are gone, however stutter on HD movies are back with avengeance, worse than before but now using Beyond XBMC.

Anyone know if this is the best version of XBMC for KitKat?

              Thanks

Ok gradually sorting out my issues,

Now using the Nightly version of Gotham XBMC and HD playback seems ok.

My streaming of live TV from my server isnt working, if I select a TV channel it starts to buffer but never gets of 0% then crashes XBMC and it exits. Also just noticed it does exactly the same thing when trying to play a Youtube video in XBMC.

Anyone any ideas what this could be? possibly the cache?

                    Anyone good with logs?

here's the log at the time of the crash http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=140796 I think it happens on line 4459.

Currently I am having to use 2 different versions of XBMC, Frodo for SD live TV and Youtube and Gotham for HD movies which is less than ideal.

                    Thanks Steve

k first off u might have better luck on hardwareguru's rom- http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...are-for-Neo-X7 for me it's by far the most stable n fast rom

second for xbmc your probably better off using beyond xbmc- http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.p...BMC-(Beta-3-3) initially i used the xbmc frodo, followed by minix xbmc, n now beyond xbmc, beyond xbmc is the best one i've used so far it comes with allot of the addons/repositories preinstalled, so it saves time on the install side and its pretty glitchless.

it's also worth noting this rom is able to connect to bluetooth controllers like a ps3 controller. N also i use my minix for at least n hour everyday to watch shows/movies or play video games and it does good.

The Kitkat rom was the only one I could find that did'nt give me the black screen flashes, I have beyond XBMC installed and it works for SD Live TV and SD videos, but HD video playback is worse then Frodo. I also have Gotham installed which works fine for HD Video playback but Live TV crashes XBMC.

                        And still no remote function.

Is there any other 4.4.2 rom's to try for the X7?

i haven't had this issue, it could be ur minix box but before u go there, If u have another hd tv around try it on there and see what happens.

I tried my box on my Samsung tv and for the short time I tried it I didn't get the flashes so it appears it's to do with the monitor I'm using it on but it doesn't happen with kitkat on this monitor so ultimately it's a firmware issue. Are minix planning releasing a 4.4.2 rom? I notice other rk3188 mini pc manufacturers have done. Are minix normally slow with these things?
