    Sky Go Tablet rooted issues

I have mentioned this in the kitkat 1.8 thread but did not want to take up space about it in there and decided to create a separate thread dedicated to the issue.

I have the kitkat 1.8 riley rom installed on my M6 pro but whenever I run certain apps such as Sky Go Tablet, it says it can not run on rooted devices. This also happened when running stock pipo rom.

I have followed the following instructions, but the same issue occurred with
    Sky go stating rooted.

Has anyone got this to work? Do some apps use white lists and if so, could we use build prop to tick apps into thinking the pipo was a mainstream tablet???

    1) See that ur tablet/phone is fully rooted
    2) Download build prop editor from playstore : https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ld.prop.editor
    3) create backup of original build.prop file that resides in /system (within build prop editor app)
    4) search for ro.build.tags in build.prop file
normally U will see that the value is 'test-keys' , change that value into 'release-keys'
    5) save build.prop file , quit build prop editor , re-open build prop editor and verify that the changes are really saved.
    6) used SU by chainfire to completely remove root
    7) goto apps, and STOP the Sky go app, empty cache and delete all settings.
    8) open Sky go app and see if it works. If not : verify ro.build.tags in build.prop again or try to reboot tablet. If it still does not work, then this was not the solution for the Sky Go app but only for our local tv player here.

All credits go to writer of this article : http://blog.johanvanbogaert.be/2013/...dersteunt.html and member pipo2000 for pointing me there.

    re-rooting pipo tablet

Anyone wanting to re-root after removing root can follow the instructions below.

Switch on usb debugging on the tablet and installing the ADB drivers, Install Kingo android root then running the kingo programme and letting it do its stuff. Root done. Seems to also install a Chinese market on the tablet, but this can easily be removed.

I didnt ask this before and is simply a loose thought : is your runtime DALVIK or ART ?
When on ART the YELO TV app is not working either... on DALVIK on the other hand its working fine.

goto settings , option for developers , select runtime : you got a choice between Dalvik and ART there.

              This is only for Kitkat so RR 1.7 / 1.8b / 1.8

Nope. Made no difference, still sees it as rooted.

XDA have a exposed framework plug in called root cloak they are working on sky go ,but they are having problems with the way sky go detects root ,looks like we will have to wait till someone figures it out
