iFive 3 AND Mini3 RileyROM 1.0 KitKat

This is a KitKat ROM for both models...iFive 3, and iFive Mini 3 based on official iFive firmware dated 2/14/14.

This is a KitKat ROM, so you need to keep the loader checked the first time you flash it. If you decide to go back to a Jellybean ROM...you must first erase IDB from this ROM before flashing the Jellybean...and flash the loader for the Jellybean ROM (you are on your own for a Jellybean firmware to flash back to...either look on the iFive site, or do a ROM dump of your original firmware before you start, just look around for instructions here on FT).

Auto APK Install feature on first boot (read my thread on it in the Pipo section)
TWRP Recovery
2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12gb user app space options by flashing the desired parameter file (default is 4gb)
Boot animation by Tattman65
Reboot app by Petrus
First Time User's Guide for flashing instructions and other tips
Modules added for VPN support (not tested)
Adjusted Wifi Power

good rom except

hi, really like your rom, except when booting, your logo comes up, then goes away and the screen is blank for awhile, making one wonder if anything is happening.

if you could have your logo repeat until log in screen comes up, that would be great.

have tried all other roms for ifive mini 3 and like yours best! especially that you got rid of all the bloatware!!

also, is there any way to get a true root? so can delete apk's under system/app?

You have true root...you just have to set permissions in your file manager app appropriately.

using es file explorer, have checked Root explorer in settings?

even my jackpal.androidterm-2.apk (terminal wiindow) can su, but not delete anything under system/app

been along week, maybe i'am missing something??

Tablet received(mini 3), ROM installed :-) It works like a charm! The tablet is really nice.
I'm impressed on how kitkat is running in this tab with only 1Go of ram. Ifive really make good devices!
I was Pipo fan but I think they have now a serious competitor.
By the way, the donation is flying to you Randy, for the Pipo ones (my M9), for this one and for futures!

Hi res with RK3188 you know what that mean... Even if they put faster memory, the issue comes from the cpu that doesn't support more than 1920/1800.
Honestly, 1024/768 on 7,9'' is more than enough to read, play etc... The ppi remains good. And this little tablet is really impressive in terms of smoothness and performance.
I think next Gen with RK3288 will be ready for high res, maybe better to wait if you want hi res.
Just an advice

Regarding your ROM, few little things that I noticed :
-as explained above, bootanimation bugs
-there is no way to edit "owner" profile, and multiuser is not present (maybe not your ROM but Ifive that disabled it?)
-location toggle is not available and it's disable by default.
-TWRP recovery doesn't work with this tablet (at least this version) because the tablet doesn't have "esc" button, so it's impossible to navigate through menus. I think you should put CWM as default. I will flash it and test just to be sure, keep you posted.

I will continue my test, but so far, I'm really impressed with this tab, it was for my daughter but I think I will spend some time on it first :-)

I saw some feedback users about the new Ifive mini 3 Retina and it seems to work fine, smootly.
I bought the new Ifive Mini 3 Retina for 170$ (133€) shipped (Banggood with 5% discount code: b185f7)

Ifive tech make good firmware (optimised), and with KitKat, plus the fast eMMC, extra RAM and the 7.85" screen it is enough to have a good tablet (20800 antutu)

With stock rom 19511 With mod rom 20815 With retina display!!! Amazing!

I think mini 3 retina using just rk3188 running KitKat should be quite ok. My x2 running KitKat is very good. Rk3288 would be nice but it will take more time to mature on the software side. Maybe second half of the year if at all.
