Its using hotplug instead of interactive and has a really low min clock speed.

Its built for a tablet not a box.

There's some really strange things going on in it. The minimum speed is 96hz. Also I think there's some heavy thermal throttling going on, it never goes above 1.6ghz and looking at the max frequency it changes all the time from 600mhz to 1.6ghz. I'm no expert but in my experience with all my other Android devices it looks a mess.

I found the CPU scaling info.

        write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_max_freq 1608000
        write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_min_freq 96000
        write /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor hotplug
        write /sys/class/freq_limit/limit 0

I am afraid to mess with it right now. I will do my first ROM without then mess with this when I get time.

          Tronsmart Vega S89 Amlogic S802

The Source code released last month has this:

          #define CPU_FREQ_LIMIT 1992000000

Max supported frequency (not saying it won't blow up!!) in source is 2.35 GHz

Using my ipad so apols for any stupid ios spelling 'corrections'

Trickster can frequency lock using a permission trick at 1.9999...GHZ.it does seem quite cool when running at this. As Bob showed there's an Initd file which seems to give the frequency scales as 96-1.6Ghz, There's also a lot of other stuff in the initd files mentioning 'tablet'. I think they've put a pure tablet kernel and ROM(the picture filps into portrait mode on some apps) optimised to run from 96-1.6Ghz. Would this be correct?

That's what I've seen for m802 scaling. Hotplug included. Though I rarely buy tablets - only truckers seem to want them as media players, lol.

I was blundering around trying to delete and edit some of the scripts last night but I couldnt get anything to save. Probably need to do it at a ROM building or adb level.

Its so annoying when I look at the custom kernels I've downloaded for my Nexus 5 which are totally optimized to the last line of code, then you see the thing on this box. You could probably easily get up to 30000 on Antutu if this thing was given a bit of attention.

All in good time. I'm excited the freaktab devs have one in hand as I now know it'll be supported for at least awhile. After I get my test unit I'm going to be watching the first few ROMs to see if I should order 50+ units or wait for clones. M8 seems like it may be a better choice as I hate the hockey puck design.

Yeah, it will be sorted in time. Its a decent bit of hardware.

You cannot modify .rc files as they are in boot.img and that is not a writable file system! e.g. it's the kernel ram disk so every reboot it gets over written! You have to pull apart boot.img and make the mods there.

This is how I added a proper root and init.d support to my ROM I will be releasing very soon! Probably tomorrow AM.

                          State of Device:
All networking features work as described. (Yes Ethernet works)

Software DTS and DD 5.1 decoding and passthrough over HDMI works.

DTS/DTS-HD passthrough causes XBMC to no longer play 2.0 pcm/aac content.

DD+ and Dolby TrueHD - Completely ignores it and does 2.0 PCM output.

I have many, many frames skipped (2/sec) in XBMC with Amlogic decoder no dropped frames. Audio is almost always 0.5s delayed.

Nothing but XBMC supports passthrough as far as I can tell.

I don't have an optical audio cable right now will test optical out later.

Device is fast for everything but the pathetically low frequency minimum for scaling for the CPU Governor really shows when multitasking.

Looking forward to a Linux port to this device.

Yep, its got great potential but the software (hardware for video?) Is woefully lacking at the moment. Needs a lot of attention.

Hardware is lacking DTS/DD support but that can be done in software without any real noticeable issues. I locked 0.5 sec into video settings and now I have no lipsync issues. Hardware is great but the ROM needs some work.

Just another small point noderat, do you find the display to be a bit "fuzzy" is it definitely true 1080p? Beside my NUC the display doesn't look "clear". My just be my eyes in my old age.
