Root - RK3188 - CS918 - Android TV Box

Hi Friends,

I am very new to this. I have purchased below box RK3188 Model CS918

I would like to mainly use this for XBMC. And would like to directly start XBMC when I start the device.

However, I need to know the below.

1. how to root this device?

2. Which custom ROM is best and fast specially for XBMC which is compatible with this device?

3. Also how to flash custom ROM on this device?

Any help would be appreciated.

I checked-out the website.. and on the site it says your unit has bluetooth..
Well..
A real CS918 has no bluetooth

So, you unit is a T-r42
Now there are about 9 versions/revisions of this units/pcb
-this means you need to open-up the device.. to see what pcb/motherboard you have

Only after knowing what pcb.. you have.. can you look for a compatible custom firmware

Under the rubber pads on your tr42 are screws.. for opening you box

Root:
Install moborobo on you pc then quit the app / connect pc to tr42 / use TPSarky to root your unit

Ps3
On blog.geekbuying.com is a manual on how to flash/firmware update your unit

Hi,

I did open the box and it turned out to be XT-Q7-V10.

Please see the attached picture.

Is there any custom rom available for this combination and are steps to root this device still the same?

I was looking specifically something for XBMC.

I have recently received updated STOCK ROM for this device by the vendor. Can anyone advise how to create custom rom from this?
