    Newbie needs help

I guess I am living proof that a little knowledge can be dangerous
i recently purchased a Tronsmart MK908. It worked out of the box but I wasn't able to get 1080 resolution. Also it wouldn't install some apps I downloaded. Showbox for one.
did dome research on the net and decided I needed to upgrade firmware so I went through the "SomeCoolTech" YouTube video instruction and now I have a device that doesn't boot up. I just get a black screen with occasional horizontal bars. Power is on (little blue light is on)
    Feeling pretty stupid right now.
How can I get up and running again and also fix my original issues?
any help will be greatly appreciated

Don't touch the img file ok.
It's use to burn using rktools or rkbatch to the device.
What you need to know is how to short pin the cpu boot it again.

I think that this model have a reset button in hole (as my MK908II).

take a paperclip, toothpick or anyelse that may be insert in the hole.,
push button for 4 sec. while you Plug in your pc by USB,until you hear a usb plug-in sound
                    install the rockusb driver.
                    open rkbatchtool.
                    load the image file.
                    push on restore button.
wait until is finish en enjoy.

That's exactly what I did that got me into this. I followed the reset procedure, loaded the image file and now nothing.

I've done it 3 or 4 times and the loader always says it was successful. But it isn't.

edit... First thing is find out what main board ver you have pop it open and it will be written on the board.
second - once found go to 908 thread and down load custom rom (bob, lewy, others)
third - open rkbatchtool -have usb connected unit unplugged, insert pin and depress reset pin plug in power rbatchtool will tun green if it is any other post what colour and ill say what to do next, if its green select the rom you downloaded and flash it. with restore! not upgrade.

let it finish, do not touch untill you see some boot screen to tv, once it fully loads and your into launcher and everything loaded re start (not reset) once re booted load your programs good to go. read up on custom roms some have rooted and or special items so little reading can help make your choice easier.

For me, sometime I have to try several firmware before to find the good one.
